A diet Coke!  For the first time since I went cold turkey in April, I actually want a diet Coke!  I guess I'm just sick of all the water, tea, etc.

Help!  Talk me off the ledge!

Bananas don't like diet coke!  Just remind yourself how much it hurts to write that check every month to pay off tiny tummy! You don't want to risk stretching or hurting your expensive tummy!  STEP AWAY FROM THE DIET COKE!!  Sorry you are having a longing you can't satisfy.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Diet Coke = No Nutritional Value, No Fuel for you body, stepping t back to choices we've chosen not to make again, carbonation issues, etc.

On the other hand, I caved a few weeks back on my longing for popcorn. It goes down .... and keeps on making room for more with NO problem. I *ate my fill* and then some while at the theatre with our son. Well, I kept it down, but was up all night with the other problem and continued to have that problem for the following 2 days! I inadvertently cured myself of ever wanting popcorn again. I can't even stand the smell now.

So, if you do cave in to temptation, if you do it bad enough you just might permanently cure yourself of the desire for Diet Coke. But, I DON'T recommend it!

Remember, your body needs and wants fuel. It's your head that wants the other stuff. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Well I will try, I was addicted to Coca Cola the real thing not the diet stuff, it was all that i drank. almost every waking hour of the day I had one in my hand, I do believe that is why I always felt so bad, well that and being overweight.  After my first visit with Dr. Walton I went cold turkey, after that visit my husband and I went to Chili's and I had my last Coke forever.  I told myself that I was more important than the Coke and I didn't need it.  I couldn't believe how easy it was, I just knew that having to quit Coke was going to be the hardest thing that I would ever have to do.  Everytime that I am tempted by a food that I know won't do me any good I ask myself what is more important the food, drink, or myself and my health.  I so believe that most of this WLS process that we are living is all mind over matter.  I can't say that I will never cheat, because I did, I had a potato chip the other day, and then I asked myself "Why did I eat that"? It did me no good and it just made me want another one. I know that I will never be able to drink another Coca Cola, or eat another donut, because they were my weakness. So hang in there GlitterGal, I know that you can get past this, I know that if I can do it anybody can.

You have my permission to get one, open it up, pour it into a see-through glass, then drop spoonfuls of baking soda into it. That's what it would do to your tiny tummy. If you still want to drink it after that, go for it.
Don't you dare drink it!
Blessings,
Mary

If I remember correctly, they said we could drink one as long as we let it get flat a bit first.  Of course that kind of takes the joy out of it!  But if your craving won't leave maybe you could let it sit out a bit and then take a sip.  My bet is that it won't taste near as good as you are imagining.  I was craving chocolate or so I thought.  I ate two nibbles from a bite sized hersey milk chocolate bar and then threw it away cuz it tasted nasty...dang it.  I guess I did pay $10K hoping that would happen but still...dang it!

Amy is right...it doesn't taste that good! How do I know?? HaHa!! I tried it....a small sip! It was not the taste that I didn't like, it was the carbonation that bothered the almighty banana!
