Whatever you do, stay hydrated.  The stuff I took before the scope made me sick so I was throwing up and going at the same time and got dehydrated.  I finally felt better about 2 a.m. but then I couldn't drink anything before going to the hospital.  The nurses couldn't find a vein for my IV and they were poking everywhere - arms, hands, feet, behind the knees.  Dr. Miner came in and asked if we should reschedule and I said no way.  I finally got my IV after 16 (not a typo) sticks.  And the happy drugs are wonderful.  donna

I totally agree that turning 50 bites.  I've been having these things since I was 40.  I have a strong family history of colon cancer.  My grandmother and aunt both died of colon cancer.  That is one cancer that is totally avoidable as long as we do our part and have those (awful) tests!  My son is a GI doc and said that EVERY pollup WILL turn into cancer if left untreated for 10 years from the time it starts.  I'm glad you're getting a baseline and now keep it up every 5 years.  I go every 3 years...lucky me!!!  I'd rather have pollups (which I've had none thus far) removed than the alternative.  You have a lot of bowel and if a section has to be cut out that's not a big deal either.  I know it's absolutely the "sh**s"!  Have fun and there is one problem you won't have to worry about during that time and it's constipation!!!

On another note...I'll see you gals tomorrow unless it's raining...I might melt ya know!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I had to have one a few years ago because I was having some health problems.  A friend came over to spend the night and take me to the doctor the next day.  I only had one bathroom....friend ended up having to drive down to the grocery store to pee cause I couldn't get off the potty long enough to share.   Just saying.

You are correct, the actual procedure is nothing-and the daytime procedure knock out drugs are great.  I had an upper gi scopy thing too, and it was almost worth the drugs....LOL.  It's the kind where you can get up and move, but you have no memory.  My memory is as follows:

In the room with my ipod on and them telling me "we are going to start now"  and I said "okie dokie " (cause I had some relaxing stuff earlier).

My next memory is I am sitting, dressed in the waiting room, my friend is there and the nurse is talking....she suddenly stopped and said "You have no idea where you are do you?" and I laughed and said "ooops, does it show?"  You just sort of pop in and out of consciouness for awhile-since it's planned, medically approved and supervised, it's really kind of fun.

How come I think that last line was a play on words?  Needless to say, since my mom had colon cancer I have been doing these for a long time.  I was worried about the prep, and, hey, honestly, it doesn't sound too bad comparatively speaking.  Have you ever heard the words "Go lightly?"  That's the prep I used to have to do -- and, trust me, you didn't go lightly, and you had to drink a gallon, I repeat, gallon of it !!!!  SO, two days of liquids and 2 bottles of mag cit -- give it to me -- I'll just count it as at least 2 more pounds gone !!!  Good luck on your test !!
