Exercise...
Hey guys!!
I am a week post op, and feeling great!! I have been off the pain meds for a few days, and just suffer from intermittent gas pains (which aren't a lot of fun, but it's completely tolerable!) My fluids are going great, and only yesterday did I really start feeling hungry. Today I am not feeling too hungry thank goodness!! Anyway really my only complaint is that I have felt really tired if I get up and do alot. I have been trying to walk around my neighborhood some and then I have to come inside and lay down and usually end up falling asleep! I know it's because of the lack of protein, but I am wondering when you guys started a formal exercise program after surgery? Any recommendations? Would you suggest I get the protein bullets to add to my water? Jess told me not to worry about counting protein the first two weeks but it seems like everyone else does!! Thanks for any info!!

Being that you are only one week post-op, yes, it is important to move, but it is also important to rest if and when needed. I would suggest to concentrate on exercise a few weeks down the road.
I was three weeks post-op when a surge of energy came upon me, and I felt like I could have just bounced off the walls...I was moving, moving and moving.....I exercised at least 2 hours every evening. I still exercise now, but, it seems things have evened out a bit. So, things will change and you will have more energy when you start eating. I never did the protein bullets...I only had an Atkins Advantage shake if I needed it.
During the first 2 weeks I only did protein if I was feeling weak. Wasn't ever hungry during that time, so that wasn't an issue. I moved around a lot, but I wouldn't call it "exercise". Just keeping busy with things. But I also knew that when my body was tired; it was time to stop. Don't over do it. You did just have surgery for goodness sakes! Listen to your body. It will tell you. It's normal to feel tired. It will pass. This is just a blip on the radar. Glad to hear it's going well!!

Hey Christi im glad your doing well. Sorry that you dont have a lot of energy. I cant say that I am having those problems. I have been off of my meds for about 4 days I have been extremely hungry so I have been doing the advantage and slim fast drinks. I do one every once in a while I talked to Chris and she said that 1 or 2 a day isnt bad if your hungry. I have not started exercising yet but I do go out and walk quiet a bit and dont seem to have problems with it. The only thing I have problems is my lower back bothering me but it will be better soon enough. How many pounds are you down since surgery?
LOL!
Thanks for the advice!! I always feel like I have lots of energy until I get up and do something!! Melissa, I haven't weighed and I probably won't for some time. I don't want to get started on that roller coaster! I can definitely already feel the difference in my clothes though. I have been lucky in that I haven't really felt hungry at all. I did one day but that has been all so I am grateful for that!! The pain only lasted a couple of days and I didn't have much in the way of nausea. Now it's just the fatigue if I go out and party too much! LOL! Glad you're doing well! Take care!!

...Of course my fatigue could be do to the fact that I did a no no and went to Shreveport for a couple of days with my boyfriend 2 days after my surgery!!
He had a bachelor party to go to and wanted me to go with him (go figure!) so I laid around in the room, went and played slots, layed around in the room, went and played slots... LOL! Our room had a nice deep bathtub in it but I couldn't use it because I couldn't get my incisions wet!
Thanks for the words of wisdom guys!!
