Okay, I am sorry I have not been on lately...I have been in quite a bit of pain till today.  Today seems to be my turning point, pain has decreased by 50% or more.

But I am having another issue which I am not sure what to do.  I have not been able to drink my protein, it made me very sick today.  I have tried three different types in the last few day and cannot stomach any of them.  I just don't know what to do...it is really getting me down.  I am getting in all my water and viatamins, drinking broth, popscicles...BUT the protein is the problem.  PLEASE tell me what I should do...I'm at a loss right now.  I wish there was a protein pill or something....because just as you all said our tastes will change after surgery and boy have they.  Now I cannot stomach any protein...UGH!!!  Thank you guys so much, I appreciate your support!

They have protien bullets (like jello shots) at GNC and some health food stores.  There is also unflavored protien you can put in soups and broths if your surgeon allows.

It is very hard to get in your protein the first few weeks after surgery.  Don't worry so much about the protein, it will come.  The most important thing right now is getting in your fluids.  I lived off of diluted green Gatorade the first week or more after my surgery.  This is the reason the Doc's have us follow a high protein diet before surgery, to store some protein for after.  It sounds like you are doing well with getting in your fluids and vitamins.  Better than I did my first week.  Good luck and take care.  Sending mucho hugs and prayers for a speedy recovery!

Dan used Cytosport from GNC, I believe. It may have been a different nutritional store. For a time, it seemed to be the only protein he could get down ... if I remember correctly. Cytosport is a liquid form ... rather like Gatorade in appearance, that is a protein source. Beware of Gatorade since it can be pretty high in sugar.

I believe this is the same product only the name is Cytomax:

Dan, correct me if I'm wrong.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Yep thats the stuff.  The green I think is NASTY but the red and orange are awesome.  They sell it here in Tulsa at Discount Sport Nutrition and Suppliment Shack.

Thank you all.  I don't know...all protein that I've tried makes me gag or throw up.  And the funny thing is I had alot of success with many different ones before, so I thought for sure ONE would stick.  But no such luck!  All I can say is thank the lord I have no trouble at all with getting everythink else in...and man I CANNOT WAIT FOR MUSHIES ON THE 17TH.  I love Cottage Cheese, Cheese in general, refried beans...you get the idea..lol!!

Have you tried mixing it with water instead of milk? I found I became latose intolerant following surgery. The same protein drinks I liked before surgery made me sick after until I switched to mixing them with water.

You could also try lactose free milk. The taste is very similiar to milk, hardly noticeable.

I've tried about 8 different protein mixes and the best that I've had so far is Nectar.  You can buy it at netrition.com . It is pretty awesome with NO GRITTY taste whatsoever....  So take it from someone who lives on protein...Nectar is awesome...I love the fuzzy navel or the caribbean cooler.

Maybe you could try SF Carnation Instant breakfast. If you mix it with skim mild and add a serving of powdered milk and drink it warm, it is yummy and equals 21 grams of protein. My NUT said this would be fine to have in place of protein shakes.
