From my list serve:
Group, Puggerfest is less than a month away. For those of you who are not familiar with Puggerfest - Puggerfest is Homeward Bound Pug Rescue & Adoptions annual fund raiser. If you have not been to Puggerfest, it is a day you really do not want to miss. There are all sorts of contests, games, etc. Not to mention the silent auction items AND the raffle items. This year, we will have a raffle for a 42 inch flat screen TV!!!. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25. The cost to get into Puggerfest is $5 per adult and $2 for children 12 and under and of course Pugs are FREE!!! I hope everyone marks their calendars to attend Puggerfest on Saturday, Oct. 4th from 10am to 4pm. Puggerfest will be held at Stars & Stripes Park.
You don't have to attend to enter the raffle and I have tickets if anyone is interested. The odds are pretty good on this one-it's a low volume event. If some of you want to go in together for the 6 for 25, just have one person pm me with contact info-(one person's contact info though....) I'm not all that fussy. Same drill if you want to group together some of your co-workers for a pool. Of course, how you would split the TV is a complete unknown....LOL.
A little known fact is that walking a Rescue Dog burns twice as many calories due to the karmic goodness that comes from adopting (or fostering) a rescue dog. My Greta is a rescue dog and I burn three times as many calories when I walk her because she is a special needs dog.
Obesity Help does not want people to know about this phenomenon because it is a threat to WLS...OK, I TOTALLY MADE THAT UP.

Recent studies have shown agreeing to foster a rescue dog waiting for adoption results in a greater calorie burn.
If you are fat, and you foster a fat dog, and walk that dog, you will burn 3 times as many calories than if you walked alone (mostly because you will tend to walk more often is someone else is depending on you).
Wish I was there to help with Puggerfest. One of my favorite dogs was a pug named Smashmouth. Appropriate name for a pug. He had separation anxiety and would scream at the back door, because he wanted in with someone. Have a red and white boston terrier named Boomer now. He is so my shadow. Cute as cute can be. Wanted to post his pic, but don't know how. Michael

Pugs are definitely different. Greta, my chug, was completly frightened and abused when I got her-terribly fear agressive. She's friendly and confident now, but she has learned the art of "crying wolf" very very well. What's funny is she'll be howling broken heartedly at the door and I will quietly say "Greta, that's enough" and she'll just sort of shrug and walk off.....for the moment. I keep missing the pug meet up group-I think she'd get a kick out of being around other like minded dogs.
Bostons are cool dogs too-I always wanted a brindle boston terrier.
