HOTEL

Just a week from Monday!  I am counting down the days.  For the people in Edmond, can you give me a couple of hotels around the hospital?  Asked my mom, but she is not that familiar with the Edmond area.  My wife is going to stay at a hotel during my surgery, because I really don't want her to stay with my mom or sisters during the time.  I love my mom and sisters dearly (I admit, I am kind of a mama's boy -- she is a terrific person), but I don't want her and my wife alone for 3 days!  She says stuff that she doesn't realize is somewhat hurtful sometimes.  Anyway, I think my wife would be more comfortable in a hotel.  I might see if she would go to the meet and greet on the 16th, if that would be ok.  She might get lost as a goose though.  Thanks in advance for the info.  Michael.

I can't help you with a hotel.....  And, I'm sure she would be most comfortable in a hotel...  But, the couch in the hospital room folds out like a futon.  That is where my hubby slept.  You might want to consider that so if you need anything she will be there to help you get it so you don't have to call nurses for every little thing.  Josh mixed up my broth and crystal light for me :o)

I know a couple of people have stayed at the Stratford House-it seems to be reasonably priced and safe.

Big hug for you for thinking about your wife.  My Mom is like that too-good person, poor conversational skills and tact-and in a hospital situation you can get "turf wars"   going on about whose job it is to worry.  Families are so complicated.

my husband and son stayed at the sleep in on broadway because we had already booked them a room and didn't know about the couch folding out to a bed and the 2 recliners. good luck!

Michael, we would love to have your wife at the dinner on the 16th!  If you want one of our cell phone numbers so she can confirm that she will be there, and also if she gets lost, PM me.  We would take good care of her at dinner.

The room at Weight Wise is very comfortable.  She might now even want a hotel room.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

What a thoughtful Hubby you are!  I'm not able to help with a hotel either.  I am hoping my hubby will stay with me!  OKC is where I'm having my surgery and I will be 2 hrs from home!  I want my hubby with me the WHOLE time!  The Poor man!  My mom won't be there but I wouldn't leave my hubby with her either!  NOWAY!  I want to just say I'll be thinking of you!  I can't wait to hear how your journey goes!  I know you'll do great!  Kim

The Edmond "Sleep Inn" is at 3608 S. Broadway.  It is just north of 33rd on Broadway...east side of the Broadway Extension.  They are a customer of mine and it is a very clean facility.  I don't know anything about rates but I'm sure it is comparable to most.  Your wife would just be a mile or two away from the hospital.   My husband stayed with me in the room while I was there.  He used the sofa "futon" bed.  They were all very accomodating and even had sheets and blankets for him.  The room is quite large so it wasn't crowded.  He did have to leave to eat since they don't have a cafeteria...don't have to fee us WLS people!!!

Thanks for the info everyone.  Thanks fleemore.  We will probably come in on Sunday, I think, depending on the time of the surgery, and will check in then.  My wife is on a c-pap too, and we have to have a box fan on at night, so we pack half our house when we go somewhere, plus she has to pack 50 outfits for 3 days, etc.  Too much to drag in to my moms too.  We will decide if she is going to stay in the room, I guess, after the surgery to see if she would be comfortable on the futon.  Michael.

You're welcome.  I know what you mean about packing the house.  My husband and I both use a C-pap.  We're such a lovely pair at bedtime!!  Now you're getting in over your head by accusing her of the 50 outfits a day.....  We ladies have to be sure and have all our bases covered just in case we change our mind you know.  I'm looking forward to meeting your wife.  Please be sure and let her know that we all want to meet her and to be sure and come to our meet and greet.  We'll take care of her...so be careful what you say about her...and her clothes!!!  I know you must be getting so excited about your WLS.  It's going to change your life for sure!!!

I know, I stay "over my head".  I am there even when I am sure I'm not.  Can't help it -- I'm a guy.  She is typical, I guess, prepared for snow in August!  Thanks again, she is excited about meeting all of you.  Maybe she can bring me back a doggie bag of water!  Michael.
