I thought I wasn't supposed to lose hair until 3 months out.  I have actually been losing hair for a couple of months now but this morning I lost a ton!!!  At this rate I should be bald by the 4th month!!

Does short hair hide the thinning or make it more apparent?  I love my stylist but am wondering if I should go to someone that specializes in cancer patients or something just to get a good cut for the lack of hair.  Anyone have a good stylist they would recommend for that?

I am sure you are taking your Biotin, and eating all Protein.  My sister in law is a hair dresser and she is getting me some scalp treatment.  She said it might not cure the hair loss but will make my scalp healthier, and slow down the loss.... it gives the vitamin directly to the scalp that your body is not giving it.  Call your girl and see if she can go to State for you and get it.  She will know what it is, if not let me know and I will ask my girl the name of it.  GOOD LUCK!!!!!   Morgan

Good idea!  I will see if she can get me some of that.  I am taking Biotin every evening.

Amy, this is a pretty common reaction to anesthesia and surgery. It will pass. In the meantime, make sure your hitting your protein goal every day and taking your vitamins as directed.

So far, I haven't had any post op hair loss. However, after I had each of our children I got a MAJOR receding hairline both times. The hair did come back, thank goodness. Temporary hairloss can happen with hormonal changes, too.

I think sometimes that those of us that are in the menopausal range may have a better chance of missing the hair loss problem. However, we have hot flashes and other issues to take its place. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Amy, I've been losing hair for a few weeks now but, thankfully, it is not getting any worse.  In fact, it mayb e lessening.  I have been taking 5,000 mcg of Biotin daily and using Nioxin shampoo and condition for thinning hair.  I have no idea if either of these things are working but I do know that my hair is growing more quickly now.  That's probably the Biotin.

They say that once you start noticing the hair loss, the new hair if already growing in.

I have never seen anyone bald at support group (except a few men!) so you're going to be fine.  So hang in there.  I know it's rather upseting.

Where did you find the shampoo and conditioner.  That might help.  Also I think I am only taking 1,000 of Biotin.  Maybe I need to up that.

I bought the Nioxin at Ulta.  It came as a 2-pack with the shampoo and conditioner and was about $30.  So it ain't cheap but at least I feel like I'm doing something.  And it's kinda minty.

They sell the Biotin in 1,000 and 5,000.  I bought the 1,000 first and when I found out they had 5,000 I threw out the original and took only the higher dose.  I made it easy on myself cuz it's cheap!

Don't worry, you won't go bald! I had a couple of weeks where it seemed that a lot of hair was falling off, but then it stopped. In my case, since I have very fine hair, short hair has worked better. I do take Biotin, but I think it has helped my hair more in making it thicker, rather than stop it from falling.

Yeah, I understand -- me, too.  As for the cut, shorter and layered will look thicker than straight and longer.  The good news, my has finally started to slow -- now to grow it back out !!

Amy~ I started thinning out at 2 mos out as well and I was doing the biotin and protein... I used the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner (I got mine at the JCPenney Salon) and I cut my shorter and increased my layers and highlights to hide it better.  That's about all the recommendation I can give, girl...  It should start getting better soon!
