Hi all you lovely, lovely people...I am home...but sore.
First I want to thank Dan for coming to see me in the hospital and for giving you guys my update after surgery..."Thanks Dan"!!
This has been a rough road, my surgery day started of by have two nurses stick me approximately 6+ times trying to find a vein before getting a phlebotomist to do it. But I will tell you...as of now absolutey no issues with my intake of liquids. Nothing has gotten stuck, nor have I has the dry heaves...knock on wood. That sounds sooooo painful!!
I got home yesterday and have pretty much been sleeping ever since. I did want to ask you all some questions...
1. I am still on Percocet for pain and take it often, or I'm not been able to stand up straight. Is this normal being 3 days out of surgery?? A friend of mine told me that since I had a hernia repair while they were in there, it is pretty common. You see my tolerance for pain is pretty high, I mean I went through 18 hours of childbirth with no pain meds of any kind...all natural, and now I feel like I'm being a baby.
2. I have not had a bowel movement yet...normal?
I will say when Thomas was mentioning the hiccups/belching and stuff I couldn't even relate till now. OMG!! Painful especially when I get those spasm thingy's. I try to walk around my house often and it never fails when I do I'm expelling gas from both ends which actually feel WONDERFUL!!!
I have decided I am not going to weigh myself till my two week follow up with Dr. G. I had chicken and rice broth only today...it was heaven. Much heavier than just broth, tasted like the best thing ever. Well except for that "Incredible Edible" egg that you all mention on day 15.
I got some pictures of myself on the day of surgery and Dr. Kirk posed with me too. I just love him!!! I will upload them now, so it may take just a bit to see them.
I am getting tired again so I will have to finish my questions later. Thank you so much to all of you for your LUV and support, you'll be hearing from me soon. And boy this loser's bench feel awesome!!!

First of all, WELCOME to the LOSERS SIDE!!
Sorry you had to be stuck so many times :o( Where did they end up putting your IV? Mine was in the crease of my elbow which was NOT a good place. I had to keep my arm pretty much straight the whole time I was there or the dumb machine would start beeping. I got tired of calling someone in there to shut the thing off, so finally I watched what they were doing and I started doing it myself! It is hard to pull your IV pole around with your arm straight!
I can't really relate to your pain from having the hernia repair... BUT, I think that if you have the meds, you might as well make yourself as comfortable as possible. Just make sure that you are taking it as prescribed... If you find that the amount prescribed isn't doing the trick, you should call Dr. G!!
Bowel Movement.... Completely normal. I've read of people who go a week without one. I'm thinking it is because you aren't taking much in. If you go longer than that you should touch base with Dr. Kirk though. You might need something to help you along. I had mine at 5 days post-op and it wasn't painful at all.
I'm dealing with the gas problems BIG TIME... I try to walk and do everything I know to do... I'm sure it will get better! Eventually!! lol
I didn't weigh until my 2 week visit either :o) I have been weighing since though. NOT every day though.
Again, welcome to the bench! I plan to go to Dr. G's next support group meeting. Will you be there? I can't wait to meet you!
