I am being so BAD, and I worry about it!!

I am having a very hard time drinking!  I find I don't want to eat either!  I'm using Gas-X chewables AND strips (not at the same time and I'm following the package directions on dosage) but I still am belching like crazy ALL THE TIME!

I'm afraid I'm getting dehydrated, but I can't hardly make myself drink.  It isn't the taste, it is the feeling I get in my pouch that turns me off.  I quit using a straw.  I quit drinking out of water bottles.  I have to drink out of a glass and I'm trying to use a technique that Hoodoo Deb posted awhile back on how to not swallow air.

Last night I felt like I was STARVING and I remembered Jessica (NUT) saying that if you think you are hungry, you are probably THIRSTY.  So, I drank...

Two days at work last week, I didn't use the bathroom at work all day long.  I went when I got up that morning (about 6 a.m.) and never again until about 5:00 pm.  That is not good!  My urine was very dark in color (almost orange!)  My EYES were even dry!  I had to use artificial tears to see!

I don't know what to do to make me drink more.  I remember reading these kinds of things pre-op and thinking JUST DO IT!!  How hard can it be??...  Well, now I know...

I don't want to end up in the hospital on IV fluids.....

Help!!
Dot

Drinking has always been something I have struggled with, even well before surgery. I am just not a drinker. But, somehow, I have managed to stay hydrated. I have done this by following Jess' suggestion to take a drink, even if small, at least every 5 minutes. using jello and popsicles helped me. Sugar free snow cones are one of the biggest helps as they seem to go down a lot quicker -- lots of ounces there too. Good luck and keep trying -- once you get behind it is hard, if not impossible, to csatch up.

These seem to me like signs of dehydration....I would definitely call WW ASAP and see what they suggest.

Dot ~ It is sounding to me like dehydration.  Get ahold of the surgeon asap.  You need to get checked out, girl.  Keep us posted! **hugs**

Dot, You have to drink. There are no ifs ands or buts about it. The only way that you can do it is to keep a bottle of something with you constantly and just sip sip sip on it all the time. Staying hydrated is very important as you know. I am not trying to be rude or mean but just straight forth. You have to make yourself do it, because you can't catch up if you get behind. If your urine is that concentrated, girl you better get after it. It doesn't matter if it turns you off, you just have to do it. As long as you are not throwing it up, you have to get it down even if it is constant tiny sips. That is better than nothing. Best of luck, Rita
