As someone who had to go in and have IV fluids at WeightWise I can say you don't wanna do that!  It's no fun and expensive!

When I have trouble drinking, I will sometime make some decaf coffee.  Seems like hot liquids go down better than cold for me sometimes.  Maybe some decaf hot tea?

Sounds like you are getting in trouble.  Please don't let this happen!  Dehydration is serious and hazardous to our bodies!

Good luck!

I am sorry you are feeling bad.  You sound like me a few weeks ago, heck even a week ago.  Personally, I think you need to call WW and you will probably need hydration.  But, I also think you should ask about Pepsid and Carafate.  I think that is what finally moved me forward and now I am finally feeling better.  I went through the bout of burping and shoulder pain and it was awful.  Now I seem to feel better.  I know you won't want to get IV's but take it from someone who has done it 4 times now, it is worth it.  Just make sure they address the underlying issues.  I think if someone would have given me the Pepsid and Carafate soon, I might have felt better sooner.

Good luck.

Dotster, don't make me drive down there with a pot of herbal tea!  Red zinger is good hot or cold or room temp and doesn't have the aftertaste that some of them have-celestial seasonings red zinger is at target and walmart and most grocery stores-it's like the most main stream herbal there is-but it's because it tastes so good.

If it's the swallowing thing that is icky, get yourself a big bag of soni**** and munch away.  I love munching ice, and since WLS I've decided it has a purpose in my life.

Dot - you HAVE TO hydrate!! It is NOT an option it is mandatory for your body to keep going!  Even if it is not Oklahoma hot outside you have to do it no matter what!  Your body will begin shutting down things if it does not have the proper amount of fluids and then you will be in bigger trouble than you ever could imagine!  Sip Sip Sip constantly - it is NOT a choice!  You have to be realistic here - if you were prescribed a medication to make you feel better - you would take it.  HERE IS THE NEWS:  This is your prescription - DRINK!!!  It doesn't matter what it is as long as it is decaffeniated and SF.  Hot or cold or medium - WHATEVER!!!  At this point you should have something in your hand constantly because you are behind already!  SF popsicles and jello count too!  DO NOT PASS GO ANY LONGER!  This is serious girl!  No kidding around - I am with Rita on this - we've both seen (and I have been there) the results of dehydration.  It is not pretty!  It will set you back big time and you will pay dearly for it - physically and finacially.  Get over whatever is holding you back - it does not matter what it tastes like - DRINK!!!

After I sent that message, I set an alarm to go off every 5 minutes to remind me to drink and so far I've drank 10 oz.  I know that isn't a lot...  But, that also counts the time I had to not drink after eating a little cheese/egg omelet.

I'm now on my second 10 oz. mug of warm decaf tea.  I took my protonix and I also took some gas-x after the egg.

I've also used the restroom 2 or 3 times.

I'll keep ya all posted.

No that is not considered follow up care. You would be billed for an ER visit as well as any medication and IV fluids and lab test. Dr B might consider that follow up care, as far as his charge. I can't speak for him. It is our resonsibility to stay hydrated. You can do it.

Get some of the sugar free popcicles, too.  It helps change up the sip, sip sip.

Dot, I wasn't at my computer much at all yesterday (brush hogging the pasture), but I hope you're drinking and eating popsicles today. Keep your drinking timed with a clock. I fill up a 32 oz. much each morning with my chosen drink of the day. I make sure I have it down by 2 or 3 PM. Then I refill it with whatever I want to drink for the evening and do the same by 9 PM.

I carry a drinking mug with me everywhere! To the grocery store, to the bookstore, to the yarn shop, to the pet store, in the car when I'm running errands, on the tractor when I'm brush hogging the pasture, or by my chair when I'm knitting or watching TV. Also, have your family remind you. My hubby has been a great help with keeping me on track ... although occasionally it has gotten on my very last nerve. ; )

It's a choice you must make for your health! Just like weight loss surgery was a choice, this is a continuation of that choice for better health.

Go, Girl, Go! Drink, drink, drink!!! We understand ... we've been there. Take it from us ... it's much better to do your drinking yourself than have it *given* to you. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
