So close and so scared!

I am going to Dr. Gornichec in OKC.  I live Closer to Owasso, like 20 mins from there and would love to go to Dr. Gorospe.  But becasue my insurance is BC/BS they require that I go to a Blue Distinction center to pay a higher amount.  Actually I could go to Owasso, but It would cost me 40% Rather then 20%.  So I am going to OKC.  Its about 2 hrs from me.
I am going to have RNY done.  And I'm hoping to have the surgery in December.  I am getting all of my tests done this month.  I just finished making all of the apts this morning.  That could contribute to the fear also!  Its actually coming to a reality now.  I've been thinking about this for 9 years!  But I got scared and chickened out!  I'm not going to chicken out this time.  I have too much support!

I just needed a little reassurance!  I'm funny that way!  I LOVE this website!  The people on here are so great!  Happy day to you all!

My sister-in-law used Dr. Gornichec and absolutely loved him.  She had RNY and has done awesome.  She is about 2 1/2 years post op and lost about 100 pounds.  She looks and feels amazing.  You'll do fine.  I don't think you'd be normal if you weren't a bit scared!!  Glad to have you on the boards.  Welcome.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Do your homework, ask questions, and, after being thoroughly tested to rule out complications, trust yourself, your doctor, and your GOD.  You have a great support group here, and they let you attend the support group at Weightwise free (if your doctor doesn't have one.)  BREATHE !!  You'll make the right decision for you.

OK!  I went to the doc and now he has tripled my first dose of bp meds plus I have an added pill too!  OMGsh!  I have got to do something!  On a brighter note...I did lose 5 lbs from last month!  LOL!  Thanks for all of your words of wisdom and care!

I think all of us were nervous and worried at some point before our surgery. It's completely normal. For me, the complications of my health conditions if I *didn't* have the surgery totally outweighed any risks.

My BP was sky high and resistant to medication most of the time. At 3 weeks post op I was off all my BP medicine and my BP was totally normal. I was at a nephrologist/kidney specialist appt. yesterday and he said he's seen it time and time again in weight loss surgery patients....dramatically improved health and medication reductions or no further need for many meds.

I'll be keeping you in my prayers for a safe and successful journey to health.Be encouraged and stay strong.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Hi Shelly!
Thanks for your kind words of wisdom!
I read your page.  It sounds like you are doing great!  congratulations!  Thats really good that youare off your b/p meds!
I have a question..I've seen it on other pages too...What is Onederland???

Onederland is where you are when your weight drops below 200! : )

Twoterville is where you are when your weight drops below 300!

There's quite a bit of weight loss slang. Just ask when you have any questions and we'll be glad to help you out. There's also a place on this website where it gives a list of weight loss slang terms and their definitions ... if I can find it again, I'll post a link. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
