Plain water has no appeal to me and I'm almost 4 months out.  I will drink it if it's a choice between that or no fluids at all.  Anything too cold as well as tea bother me also.  I almost exclusively drink peach mango green tea.  Last time I went to wal-mart, I bought every box they had and my teenage son just about died he was so embarrased.

I also drink with a straw.  We were told at WW not to, but at about 6 weeks out I was still having trouble getting all my fluids in.  For some reason, the straw helps.  Do what it takes to get your fluids in without drinking too fast.  You're doing great.  it's a learning curve for all of us.

I have never been one to drink from a straw, so that really doesnt bother me that much.  Personally before surgery when my blood sugar was so high, I could drink a bottle of anything in about 2 mins.  Now that my blood sugar isnt sky high, the hardest part for me trying to get enough liquids in, is I am just not thristy.  EVER  I have to force down my liquid.  It is absolutely the wierdest thing about the WLS journey.  Going from being thristy all the time, to literally, never being thristy.

Good luck,

PS IF you like coffee, try the SF French Vanillia Iced Coffee at McD.  Its the only way that I can reach my daily intake.
Mom to Brooklyn 2 1/2 and baby Dodge here sometime in May

In the beginning and this lasted for WEEKS! I couldnt drink plain water!!!!! I would get sick everytime. You are not alone, hang in there it will get better. And I still have days that plain water is not an option for me. If my pouch is pissy that day I can forget plain water! She is the boss!!!!!

My tummy does not really like plain water especially in the morning.  At first I couldn't do anything cold first thing in the morning.  The first liquid had to be room temp or warmer.  I think you may be the rule and not the exception on the plain water thing.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I think you are right about this being a common thing.  I posted a similar post on the main board and the RNY board and got many responses like this...

Thanks, OKIES!
