Getting ready to call WW

Well, all I've ate today was the pudding I mentioned in the earlier post.  I did eventually get all of the pudding down.  It didn't come up either.

I'm not doing well with drinking at all either.  I usually drink room temp drinks but they were feeling weird.  I just now started trying a cold water and it gives me that same stuck feeling.  I even started feeling like I was getting slimy in my mouth after the water!  GGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not good...  I'll let you know when I call and what I find out.

Let me know what they say, since we had surgery the same day I like to follow what's going on. I hope everything is cool. Going back in is no fun. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayer.

Dot, when I'm having trouble, I move to decaf herbal tea-warm.  Cold things tend to make my stomach pucker.

Will pray that everything is OK with you.  Will be anxious to hear what Dr. B has to say.  Good luck.  Michael

Dot,

I love cold stuff but most of the post ops tummys prefer warm drinks when they aren't feeling well.  You might try some hot tea or broth.  Good luck.  I hope you are feeling better soon!  I'm glad you are calling WW...you don't want to wait too long and end up dehydrated!  Take care!  Diana

Im curious...do strictures happen in only RNY cases or are VSG cases at risk also??

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question...  Maybe one of the VSG'ers can answer this?

Can happen in both.

Strictures can happen in both VSG and RNY, however it is much more common in RNY. Since they make a circular staple line where the intestine is atached to the new pouch, that's where healing and scar tissue is likely to build up and cause a tightening or sricture in RNY patients. Srictures are much less common in VSG patients due to the difference in surgical technique. The stomach is trimmed along the length of the stomach and no circular staple lines exist. There's only one long staple line for VSG patients ... much less likely to scar enough to cause a stricture. It is thought that oversewing the staple line in VSG patients may increase the possibility of stricture development. I don't know of any Oklahoma surgeons that do VSGs that oversew the staple line.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
