What are you drinking??

Hey everyone, still no help from the comp tech.  Good news is I'm no longer packing!!!  The incision is closed with the help of a butterfly bandage, shhhhh don't tell Dr. B.  No sign of infection and I finally feel normal.  I do have one question, what are you drinking?  Apparently my taste buds have become super powered.  Nothing taste good, or even OK.  Things I had before and just after surgery taste horrible now.  Water tastes like the plastic bottle, and our tap water is not fit for human consumption.  Yes, I am choking down 64oz. a day but I thought someone else might have had this problem and had suggestions for me.  I hate to feel like it is a chore to get my liquids in.  I still am sooooo glad I made this choice.  I am down 33 pounds since surgery and 49 total.  When people see me that don't know I did this and say they hardly recognize me I could just kiss them!!  Hope all is well with everyone.

I am currently addicted to the Wyler's brand of peach iced tea mix-ins.  I am able to get down a lot more liquid when it is flavored.  Experiment with different flavors of mix-ins.  I prefer the Wal Mart brand for most flavors.

Oh, yeah for no more packing!  I am so glad you are healing!

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I know it's no help, but I drink mostly plain water. I drink 96 oz a day and in the first 32 I mix the Walmart brand flavors (like Crystal Light, but I don't like Crystal Light itself) either peach tea or cherry limeade. For some reason, early in the morning, my stomach does not like plain water! - I stopped trying to figure out my stomach and its issues!!

I know that Lipton makes caffeine free teas in different flavors - they come already mixed and you buy them by the bottle. I tried a couple and they are pretty good. I get tired of the same thing too, so I know what you mean, especially when you have to drink so much of it!

Have you tried Propel or Crystal Lite? I am currently addicted to the White Grape flavor of Crystal Lite.

I agree, plain water is not the same. Feels like a rock hitting my stomach.

It took me a good 3 months to be able to do more than gag down the required 64 ounces of liquid!  Now, I love Diet Citrus Lipton Green Tea, Minute Maid Light Lemonade with SF cherry syrup...you can get this at Sonic with their awesome ice!!!, SF caramel/vanilla coffee (I make it at home every morning...my daughter says it is better than the ones you buy at the coffee places...awesome!) and I have every flavor of Great Value mix in known to man and whatever mood I am in....I try that.  The best trick for me is ice cold!!!  Some people don't like cold after surgery but I put my drinks in the freezer until they are chunky with ice.  YUMMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celestial Seasonings black cherry tea, peach, apple and raspberry teas. All caffeine free. I got mine at Target.

When not drinking those, I go for Great Value Peach Tea in both the water bottle size and the pitcher sizes. SF Minute Maid Limeade with SF Cherry DaVinci syrup.

Right now, I'm drinking Minute Maid light Orange Tangerine with Peach SF Davinci syrup.
