Hello everyone, I am 12 days post-op VSG, I have been feeling pretty good even exercising every day until yesterday I feel so tired and weak, I do a little housework or sewing and then I have to go lay down for about 30min, then I get up until I feel weak and tired again, I don't know if it is because i haven't had anything but liquids for the last 13 days or what?  Some one please let me know if this is normal or if I should call the DR.

Weak and tired is the new hunger sign.  I know- it's weird.  Jesica had to explain it to me.  She said that I needed to do a protein drink when I felt that way.  Your body needs some protein and calories!  Drink up and you should feel better.  I used the EAS lite ready to drink in chocolate for the last part of liquids.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Thanks I figured that it was because my body is hungry, I drank a couple of protein shakes last week but ran out and haven't been to the store. I will have my DH stop by walgreens tonight after work and get me a couple.  thanks for responding.

You also need to realize coming down off the cookoo drugs takes several days up to a couple of weeks.  That was a strain on your body and will make you tired too.

It is normal to be tired. You just had some pretty major surgery and your body is saying WTH. Keep up the protein and you'll start to have more energy before you know it. The 3rd week I really noticed my energy level was getting better. The more I exercised the better I felt. Remember a little nap won't hurt either. Hugs, Cindy

I seemed tired for quite a while after my surgery, so Dr. B upped my B12 to every day.  Now I feel great !!!  If it continues, be sure and tell your doctor !

Rosie, What you are feeling is quite normal at this stage of the game. Relax and pamper yourself.

kiddo you just had major surgery and your body is dealing with that..it takes time to get the energy back. And ya shouldnt be doing house work yet any way... take it slow and easy and when your protein levels come back up your energy level will increase.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
