Am I losing weight too slowly?

Okay....well a girl up here at my work made a comment the other day that I wasn't losing weight as fast as she thought.  I am down 49 pounds....I feel great!  BUT I had kind of been thinking the same thing.  My weight loss has stalled a little the past 2 weeks.  I lost 12 pounds pre-op, so I've lost 37 pounds since my surg on June 18th.  Is this below average?

I think you are right on track with your loss.  Have you lost this kind of weight any other way??  I know that I sure didn't.  There are weeks I have no loss or two weeks and then I'll loose 5 and then 1 or 2.  They all add up quite nicely.  Has your "friend" had WLS?  Some people should learn to keep their comments to themselves.  I'm sure she meant well but I think it looks as if you are doing awesome!!!  Keep up your good work...it will come.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

You're doing great!  I've lost 36 pounds since 5/28/08 so you're kicking my butt!

You are losing 3.7 pounds a week, on average.  How could that be bad?

We're all different. Everybody reacts differently to the surgery. On a positive note, if it's going slow your skin has time to adjust. I bet you're still losing inches along with it.

I think you're doing great with your weight loss!  There is no below average in my eyes because we all lose at different rates.  *hugs*  Keep up the good work!

You are doing great!!!  I am a month farther out and you are kicking my butt (33 lbs vs your 37.)  The only rate at which you can lose weight is YOUR rate!  Your body and food choices , but mainly your body, will determine how fast you lose.

I wish that people would keep their opinions to themselves!  How could it possible have been helpful for you to hear you aren't losing fast enough to make her happy???  ARGH!!!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Yup, what everyone else said.  It's true.  Your rate is different from mine.  I stall for a while and then all of  a sudden the scale moves.  Best thing I do is get away from the scale when it's not moving.  Hard to do, but it works!  Every pound that comes off is gone forever!!!  The comment made to you wasn't necessary. You look great and you're doing wonderful!!

If you click on "My OH" there is a Weight Loss Estimator and you can find out where you should be at according to the percentage of excess weight you want to lose.

Ditto everything that everybody has said -- and, did you ask her how much she has lost in the same time?  I'm sure that will shut her up !!
