Does anyone know of any lotions that are good for putting back in some of your skin's elasticity?  You see tons that advertised but does anyone have experience with any?  My surgery is coming up quickly (September 10) and I would like to be as proactive as possible with my skin!!!  I have talked with my hairdresser and we have put a plan in place to try and minimize the hair loss so I'm just trying to cover all my bases!!

Not that both of those minor side effects aren't COMPLETELY worth the new life I'm about to have but you know...I AM still a girl at the end of the day!

I really don't think any of the lotions and potions do any good.  The skin is loose because of the loss of collagen.  I think we are pretty much stuck with whatever our skin decides to do unless we get plastics. Just my opinion.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Only thing I have heard that works (and I cant even say if the claims are 100% true or not) but I was always told that Bag Balm is good for stretch marks.  You can buy it at places like large animal vets and feed stores.  Anyone want to comment on this or is it just another old wive's tail?

Dan - the bag balm will definitely add some moisture, but generally the smell and greasiness is pretty overwhelming...

My mother had a Dr. recommend grape seed oil for her very dry, damaged, stretched skin.  It worked for her to some degree.  My recommendation there is to buy it at the grocery store and not the cosmetics counter - same product, much different price.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, nothing but actual plastic surgery will completely undo the damage time and weight have done.  BUT - you're so right, it's completely worth deling with this issue instead of the weight.

Best of luck!

One thing that helps is keeping moisturized with something, and frequent exfoliation....but as to which oil works better, or which exfoliant, I can't really say.  Staying hydrated helps the skin in general, as does watching the protein intake very carefully.

For scars, etc. bio-oil is great. As far as putting back elasticity, your skin's elasticity depends upon genetics and age. There's not a lot we can do about it.
