Recovery Question
So I have a question. I'm a huge volunteer in Tulsa. I volunteer for everything that I can: Mayfest, Oktoberfest, Dfest, Tulsa Marathon, etc. This year Oktoberfest will be three weeks after my surgery. What are the odds that I will be feeling well enough to sit in a chair and check IDs for three hours?
Kim is right~ At 3 weeks out, you *should* be able to sit in a chair and check IDs. Just don't push yourself and move around too much.

Debra, thanks for the concern but Oktoberfest is nothing like that. It is a very well oiled machine. If you sign up to sell beer, you sell beer. You don't have to do anything else. No changing kegs or anything like that.
I've been volunteering for 9 years so I'm pretty sure I can score an easy sit down gig at night so it will be cool. I just wasn't sure if I'd feel up to it. The only other major surgery I've had was a c-section and I was so sleep deprived after it that I don't remember much of those first few weeks to be honest.
