A question for my buddies

Ok, folks I have a question.  I was on Weigh****chers before I saw Dr. Walton for my consult in mid-March.  I lost 20 pounds from January to that date.  I was talking to GlitterGal and she asked why I didn't include that in my ticker.  Somehow to me that seems weird.  What do you guys think?  Should I adjust my ticker to reflect that additional 20 pounds?  I know this is not exactly Earth shattering but I am not sure what is an accurate reflection of my weight loss as it relates to WLS.

Yes, include it. It is all part of your WLS journey. Something to be proud of...just do it.

I totally agree!! Or if you don't feel right putting that on the ticker....Do like some have done and list how much you have lost  as 20lbs lost pre-op.  You worked your butt off to get that part off so you need to put it somewhere!! Either way, I think you have done amazing!! I only hope to do as well as you and the rest have done on here!   Sherry

I would include it. If by the time you saw Dr. Walton you had not gained that back, you should include it. My starting weight on my ticker reflects the weight I was when I went to my consult with Dr. B - then again, I had not lost any weight prior to that, actually had probably gained a few !

Are they pounds that are gone forever?  Yes!  Are they pounds you worked hard to lose even without your secret weapon?  Yes!  Count 'em!

YESYESYES!!!  I always use my highest weight as my starting poiont of my journey, as that is when I finally got up and decided to DO something about my issues.  I was 360+ in January '04, went on a diet before seeing the MD...silly me didn't want him thinking I was too fat, wtf was I thinking?  At consult March 1, I was 344.  Surgery 4/14, I was 310...I count EVERY pound.  They were mine.  I owned them.  I fought to lose them, regardless of the method!!!

DO IT!!!

Oh yeah-every pound counts.  I didn't have to lose any weight before surgery day so I just started with that weight-but I KNOW I'd probably lost a couple of pounds before that....but 20 pounds is a significant chunck of flab and I think it more truly reflects how much you've taken off.  We have to keep looking forward, but looking back should be as impressive as it really is.  You didn't lose that 20 pounds, you TOOK IT OFF with hard work and I think your ticker should reflect that.

I kind of don't like the term lost-it's like it just fell off-I only wish.

OK, girls.  I adjusted my ticker.  It sure looks prettier with the extra 20 pounds noted.  Thanks!
