My latest adventure
On Tuesday at work I got a terrible pain in my stomache that even cause great discomfort all the way thru to my back. Had to leave work, couldn't get into my Dr so went to ER.
Well, after waiting for nearly 2 hours, got seen and then had a CT scan and found out I had a partial bowel obstruction. I was so glad to get pain meds I didn't care what they wanted to do. Luckily, did not require surgery, but spent rest of Tuesday, Wed and today until about 5 pm inpatient on IV for day and a half and then got to have some clear liquids. Apparently, after the meds and diff laxatives, the obstruction must have moved as not in any more pain. Have to be on soft diet for next week.
Now that it has happened once, doc said to expect it could happen again due to all the abdominal surgeries I have had. (2 c-sections, total hysterectomy, gallbladder, RNY and appendix)
I wish I knew how to prevent it from happening again, but only advice I got was to eat small portions and chew very well. Hey, I already do that!
Glad to be back home!

I'm glad you're back among us. I have had a few problems with constipation but when visiting with my surgeon, Dr. Walton, he still says absolutely NO to any fiber because it fills our small pouch up and that's not a good thing. He said to double, triple and more the dose of Miralax until it does the trick. So far so good for me. I would certainly hate to have an obstruction. Take care...
Thanks everyone, appreciate your comments.
Looks like I will be heading back to ER again tonight, as the pain is back again. But this time I am going to Bailey ER where Dr Gorospe practices. I think they will have more experience with this kinda thing and hopefully fix it and not just send me home because I stopped hurting. The obstruction was not all the way cleared, but doc at St Francis said I could go home since not in pain anymore. Sure don't want this to blow up on me.
