I posted this on the other thread but was afraid you might miss it in the middle there --

Sherry, I work at Reno and Meridian. Every once in a while we have people come in here looking for parts for their CPAP machines. I don't know the name of the place, but it is in the office complex on the north side of Reno west of Macarthur. Maybe you could drive by there and figure out which place it is and ask them about calibrating the machine.

I called the Walgreen district office and they gave me the number to that place. They said they would still need my numbers to calibrate it no matter what and I don't have that because I couldn't do the last sleep study where they got those numbers....Thank you for your help though. I will figure out something, I'm sure of it!  Today seems to be a down day so I think I am going to not even think about it for a few days... It's days like this, that I think what in the world am I trying to do this? I mean if you can't cover the costs you just can't...pull up your huge panties and deal with it.  I guess it's pity party day...I am not working, no insurance and I'm trying to do this???? I am not thinkning straight! I think Dr. Keller missed something yesterday...lol Oh well, I'm ok...that is one thing I always am. Thanks again Nancy, for the help! i am going to figure this out!!

I don't know if this is helpful or not.  When they gave me my auto CPAP, they had the machine come on at a pressure of 4 to start out.  I didn't think that was enough so I had them change it to 6.  Then the machine auto adjusts all night long for whatever I need.  Is the machine you're borrowing an auto adjusting one?  If not, that's a problem.  But if it is, you should be in business!

Don't give up Sherry!  This will happen for you.  You're just going to be tested and have to jump some hurdles before you get there!  (been watching the Olympics, ya know!)

You might try to get a copy of the report they issued as a result of the test and take that with you.  They should be able to tell from that what they need to set it on.  I know I got a copy of my report from my regular doctor.  But they're your records, you're entitled to them.  You might try that angle.

Will your insurance not cover it? Mine did, but I had to go through Apria. If DH didn't use it as his backup to have at the farm, I'd offer you mine..

I have no insurance now so no that won't work You are so precious to even think of offering that one....I know you all need yours. Just keep me in your prayers. Thank you all...Sherry

No Kim, the loaner would not auto adjusting. I had my DR. look at my report and she said that the numbers werent there to set one without them. The company the Dr. had me go to,for the sleep study, (which he owns by the way) expects to make another 1300 off you by doing the second study to be able to set the numbers... then charge you for the machine too...It's a racket type deal.

Ok, one last suggestion and then I promise I'll leave you alone about this.  What about contacting Walton's patient advocate, Brandi?  Maybe she has some ideas.  I mean, the numbers have to be there to tell them where to set the dang machine!!!

I never mind suggestions! My brain is worn out, so if someone else's is working..I'll take all the suggestions I can get. I did talk to Brandy and she is checking to see if  the Lynn institute might have some...I left her a message about being able to borrow one if I could just get the numbers to set it on....It was her machine, so I will see what she has to say about that....It seems like I could put it on high and go to sleepy town! I guess that's not allowed....I guess we wait on Brandy now....I am not a person who enjoy's waiting! lol
Thank you for suggesting that, I hope it pans out.....Sherry

Sherry, if you can get any of your docs to write a prescription for an auto-adjust machine you can bypass the second half of the surgery and buy a machine online.

These old machines (non-auto-setting) have to be set at a specific number between 1 and 20.  A setting too low won't help and one too high has it's own set of problems.

Just see if SOMEONE, anyone will write the RX.  You can get a machine for less than the second half of the sleep study.

Call me if you want to talk.
