Halliburton employees or spouses??
Okay, i'm on a mission to find someone who had WLS done on Halliburton (blue cross and blue shield of TX) insurance... I'm desperate to do everything right between now and when I have my surgery so that insurance will cover. I've got all the information that my Dr's and the insurance company it's self would offer but I really want to talk to someone who's really been there or really is there now.....any one?
Well, as far as I know and according to my Dr. and the BCBS they WILL cover as long as all the "criteria" is met, ie: a Dr. supervised diet and excersize program for 12 consecutive months within the last 2 years, patient willingness to comply ( which as far as i can tell that means there has to be SOME weight loss prior to the surgery) there has to be a letter of medical necessity, and your BMI has to be over 40 or at least 35 for the last 5 consecutive years with medically listed co-morbidities.
My primary consern at this point is that if I loose the weight required by the "willingness to comply" requirement then my BMI may be too low to qualifiy...*Sigh* I guess I have no choice but to wait and see...

it is my understanding the bmi will be based upon your orginal bmi not the after you lose the weight--that is how bcbs explained to me. i am covered under a different employer you can ask them the bmi question and they will answer.
remember to write down who you talked to and the date so if their is any questions they can review your information on the computer. this helped me several times====i would just write on my cal.
good luck
