Looking for a support group in Tulsa

Hi,
I'm new to OH but was looking for some help.  I am having my surgery in a couple of months in Oklahoma City. My doctor said that I can go to a support group in Tulsa to save me some time and traveling expense. He recommended the Bailey Medical Center, but I had bad luck with them.  They out right told me they would not sign off on any paper work showing that I attended because I did not belong to their organization. So I thought I would turn to some of the experts. Any names or phone numbers out there?  I will need to go to one before my surgery and after. It would also be nice to know they are there just in case I need to lean on someone! Thanks for your help!!!

Surgical Associates of Tulsa has a support meeting the 2nd Tuesday of the month. You might give them a try.

I know for a fact Dr Gorospe WILL sign your paperwork from another doctor IF you bring it with you.  He even made the announcement at last months meeting that he or Dr Kirk would.  They do not have forms for you that say "jane Doe was here".  I dont know what happened in your situation and I am sorry if you was treated badly the last time you went to a meeting.

Thanks Wof-N-Boots, It was Dr. Gorospe's nurse who told me that.  My two sons and I made a trip to the Aug.12 meeting. We signed in and then asked who we would need to talk to about getting our paper work signed after the meeting. The lady at the desk said she had to get someone else to answer that question.  Then the nurse came over and was quite blunt about not helping us out at all. I tried to explain to her that Dr. Broussard from OK City was the one who had sent us. She began shaking her head before I could even get that out and said no we are not allowed to sign any paper for attendance.  So we were kinda bummed out.  We were looking forward to getting another item off of our list.  I am currently looking for another place to go. If we can't find anyone else, I will maybe try it again. I may just detour the nurse and find Dr. Gorospe at the meeting and ask him myself. Thanks for the input!!

I was wanting to do the same thing, but was to weirded out to ask...  So, I ended up driving one more trip to OKC for my support group attendance. 

I really did enjoy the meeting though and plan to go again on the 21st.  PM me and maybe we can ride together?  I live in Bartlesville and will be leaving tulsa around 3:00 ish.

Hey Dot,
It sounds like we are in the same boat. I am actually getting some responses so hopefully I won't have to make any extra trips that I don't have to.  However, if I haven't found a solution by Wednesday, I will contact you again. I would love to split the ride with you if I need to go to Edmond on the 21st. Thanks,

This is weird! I am actually from Locust Grove too. In fact, I used to teach fourth grade in Locust Grove several years ago. You may be one of my former students. I am so excited about getting this surgery. I don't have a date yet, but I am approaching it very soon. Thanks for the welcome!
