Where has the time gone???

I cannot believe it!  It seems like just yesterday that I got the call from UHC saying I was approved.  Then I thought okay, but when will I have surgery and the next day they called and said "August 28th" and scheduled me for more appts than I care to remember.

Now, here I am less than two weeks from surgery and I only have one more day of appts left which is next Friday which will be my EGD and consults with the Dr's for Pulminary, Anesthesia(?),and Dr. Kirk.  I just cannot believe it is soooo close.  I mean I know what they say about time flying but this was ridiculously fast.

Just want you all to know how greatful I am to you and the OH site.  It has made this wonderful, scary experience much, much easier. Anyway, getting ready to go get my protein shakes and possibly a recliner.  Did any of you guys use a recliner after surgery??  I have already had my gallbladder out and that was pretty painful initially.  But I also know they didn't have the "Pain Ball" then either...lol  Well, all you beautiful people have a lovely Friday.

I actually thought the pain was less than what I expected.  The biggest thing is to get up and walk as soon as possible and keep walking.  I slept in my recliner the first 4 days I was home.  My bed is really high off the ground so it was just easier to get up and down from the recliner.

I used my recliner but slept in my bed at night.  Turning over was hard for about 3 or 4 days.  You will find as most of us have that day 3 is going to be the worst as far as pain and discomfort are concerned.  I had very little pain really and was sent home with liquid loritab and no pain ball.  I only took one dose of liquid loritab because it made me so sick to my stomach...it said on the bottle not to take on am empty stomach"  go figure...liquids and no food.  I used a little tylenol and that was it.  Everyone is different but for me it was basically painless.  Just be sure to walk, sip, walk, sip, sip, sip, walk....  You'll do great!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I'm so excited for you and you are going to do wonderful with your surgery!  I did not use a recliner after my RNY... I was able to get in and out of bed, but I might be a weird one, cuz I know a lot of people say they like the recliner best.  I'd watch out on stocking up too much on protein shakes because your tastes will change... just a warning.  If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask questions.  Have a great Friday!

Way to go on moving fast through the process!!

I got a lift recliner because I thought I was having pain that was actually infection. I used it for a month and put my body pillow behind my back and another on my lap to protect me from my beloved kitty who is my costant lap accessory.

I sent the lift recliner back after the one month rental period and got back into my regular recliner. We have 3 rocking recliners in our living room, and I wouldn't be without them.
