I will be better I promise.  Right now I am just really down because I have only lost 11 lbs over the past 4 weeks.  I have lost a total of 25 since surgery.

You WILL be better.  You KNOW you have lost a lot of inches and your body is changing.  That's obvious or your sizes wouldn't have changed.  Remember thos Non Scale Victories???  You have so many.  Besides that, you could be retaining fluids!!  I'm proud of you.  You are looking awesome.

Amy,

I have lost "only" 30 pounds since surgery and I had surgery long before you.  Of course I wish I lost faster but that has never been the case for me.  Remember, this is not a sprint!  It is a marathon!  How much you've lost in the first year is way more important than the first month.

I, for one, can tell a huge difference in you!  Think about how your clothes are fitting!  You look fab and I know you're feeling fab too!  Don't lose sight of that.  This whole process is about so much more than a number on the scale!

Amy, you most likely went through a stall right when you started mushies...you don't know that because you stayed off the scale!! Which turned out to be a good thing! So, 11 lbs may not necessarily be over the course of 4 weeks, right? You will do better (in essence I don't think you did anything wrong!), but the body adjustments will continue to happen - stay off the scale and only weigh yourself every week or two. Focus on all the other positive changes going on. - Anna

Amy, when was the last time you lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks? And this time it is gone for good!! I could really tell you had lost and that matters so much more than the numbers. We all want it off now, but at least this time we know it will be off for good. At least that is how I look at it.

This is the first time since surgery I waited for more than a day to weigh myself.  And I'm glad I waited because it saved me almost 3 weeks of being frustrated that I wasn't losing.  I've only lost one pound.  So I feel your anxiety, Amy.  But Kim is right about it being a marathon and not a sprint.  You do look awesome, and I know I can definitely feel a difference in my own health, which is what the surgery was about for me anyways.  Now, my tummy (I call him Fred) seems to want to stick around no matter what, but my arms and thighs are shrinking.  I know Fred will leave sometime if I keep working on it!  I'm sure the fish tacos and oreos (I know, bad!) didn't help much on my vacation.  But I am back to being good now that I'm home and will be working again!  I won't have much time to cheat.  Hang in there!  We'll all make it to that finish line of our goal weight loss.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that I actually lost weight faster on the pre-op diet than I am now.  Now that's just crazy, baby, but true!  I could let that discourage me.  After all, I'm $10,000 lighter now!  But I choose to think about the fact that I haven't suffered at all while I was losing those 30 pounds.  You remember how much torture it was to diet on the pre-op diet and how your tummy growled and growled which made us growl and growl?  That doesn't happen any more!  I don't suffer to lose this weight!

I hope that rings a bell for you.  Sure does for me!

Okay I'm not gonna say this gently...

You are pissed off and understandably so.  We all see the ABSOLUTELY awesome results posted on these boards every day.  And by gosh, when you signed on for this, you knew you would be right up there with those quick loser's.  I completely understand, and I haven't even had my surgery yet.  I would be down, depressed and heck ANGRY!!  But...

25lbs today is better than where you were when you started this.  And, the best part is...it is TEMPORARY.  Before you were 25lbs heavier and stuck...for life.  Now you can call this a little speed bump in your road to health and happiness, which you couldn't say before you had surgery.

So, get mad...and hey even yell a little bit.  Then pick yourself up and say okay "I'm better and well on my way through MY journey which is totally unique and special, just like I am."

All this was said with the utmost love behind it...

You know I was thinking about you and thought if you loose 11 pounds every 4 weeks that would be 143 pounds in a year.  That's awesome.....most of us in our past would have taken that on in a heartbeat!!!  Hang in there girlfriend!  You're on your way.
