Skin Shrinkage?

Ah, the beauty of youth!  You should have enough collagen remaining in your skin to have it bounce back and look good after your weight is gone. Just so you know, I am really jealous!  You can just call me saggy, baggy elephant!  It ain't a gonna be pretty over here!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Yep, kiddo, it's your age. Consider it as a blessing! I'm lumpy, bumpy, saggy but that's what the Dr. Rey Shapewear is for!

Michelle,

I have had consults with a Plastic Surgeon, be advised we have damaged our skin beyond repair that requires surgical intervention.  No amount of exercise, water, or creams will fix it.  People believe these myths and they are incorrect!  Yes age, genetics and body makeup will affect it somewhat but when you have been obese and come back down to a normal weight it is like a stretched our rubberband, it will not bounce back, please don't expect this to happen, IT WONT!  Be prepared for the loose skin and either acceptance or preparation of plastics.

I'm not saying all the skin will bounce back, but it's a little hard not to believe that it will, when that's what's happening.

The more you lose the more you will see it just doesnt happen  that way, I felt great even at 126lbs lost then somehow the next 30lbs is when it kicked in and you could see how it was really going to turn out.  In time...............

You know, I really don't care whether or not my skin skrinks back or not, I'm not that shallow. I started this thread to see if it was happening to anyone else...and apparently I'm not the only one that it's happening to.

Its not about being shallow, at some point it could be a health problem that gets in the way of living,  I will be glad to give you some names of others on this site that are young like you and though they would not have the problem but are now finding it is a serious issue.  Just so you can be prepared because it is truly a physical and mental issue, especially for younger women who have not had children or marriage yet.  Just an FYI.

I never had the notion that it wouldn't happen to me, I was amazed when my skin started shrinking, I wasn't expecting that...I went into this journey knowing that I wasn't going to have good looking skin when it was over...my hospital made sure of that.

Weight Wise tells all of their patients not to expect their skin to shrink back, it is not a normal thing. That is because most of their patients are adults twice my age...no offense meant to anyone...but I talked to my doctor, and he told me not to expect much, if it did shrink, then I was lucky, and I should be happy for it. So I knew what I was doing before all of this happened.
