Weight Weight Go Away...Come Back ...NEVER
Have I done some irreversible damage? I will admit (and probably get my ass chewed for this) I dont walk like I should. In my **** poor excuse for that I will say that it is hard to walk alone. I am SUPER jealous of the OKC walking groups you all have. T suggested going on Atikn's for a couple of weeks and Renee showed me a site that talked about a 5 day "back to the basics" plan. I am really at a loss here on what to do and I am looking for serious feedback. Rip me a new one if you want to I might need it. I want to get off AT LEAST 70 pounds of this extra 100 I WANT to lose.
If anyone even wants to call me to discuss ideas feel free if you have my number already. If you dont also feel free to send me a message for it. I want to kick this pig and get back on the freaking weight loss bus. Ooh and before you all ask....I just threw out my "Big Boy UnderWear" and bought brand new ones at Wal-Mart today.
Yippee for new undies! Sure is nice to know you aren't going to provide a free peep show!
I have no words of wisdom for you on the stall. I don't know why I do or why they go away. You do need to exercise though. Do you have an Ipod and access to a treadmill? I plug in and zone out- makes the time go faster. The 5 day thing is the 5 day pouch test. It is supposed to detox you from crappy carbs and get you back on track. You might start tracking your food on one of the online places to see how many calories you are really eating. I don't know if you will be surprised to see how few or how many you are really eating- either extreme could slow your losses. Good luck getting it going again. You will reach goal! You have done so well up to this point. You have lost a huge amount of weight in a short period of time. Your body may just need a breather to figure things out.

Dan - other than what Denise already suggested about exercise, the only thing I can add is, just cut out the carbs. I know you are not having many, but try to cut them out completely..you should be able to tell even in one week whether it's working or not, if anything, you will give your body a jumpstart. I know it's hard to do, believe me..I was raised on carbs, but think about giving it a try.. You have done a great job so far, you will lose the rest of this weight!!

Oh wa wa wa, I've been stalled since February you big old baby. On the move again at last (and very grateful I didn't gain-I was unfilled completely for like 6 weeks and then have slowly moved back up to restriction).
Couple of observations: Most people stall at the halfway point or shortly thereafter. I also think there is a point at which you cannot lose any more by diet alone-the remainder has to be diet and exercise. I honestly doubt you are at this point, but why wait? Go get a bike-it's easy to bike alone. Tulsa is a BIG bike town, lots of trails, shops, etc. and you have an entire harem who would haul their bikes up for a ride around T-town. In fact, maybe we could haul our rides up for the Obesity Walk and do a ride after cause the walk isn't that long.....THEN we could go eat some lunch cause frankly nothing is better than lunch after a long walk/ride....heck-we'll have done a biathalon. (did I just make up a word?)
The exercise thing is hard! I personally go to the gym, hop on the treadmill and read a book. It makes it go very quickly! I don't know if you can do that but it works for me. Is there anyone in any of your classes that would join you?
I am not advocating this but I hear a lot of people say they don't exercise and still continue to lose. (of course they also stall) That being said, we all know exercise is critical and I really hate it! I feel better when I exercise and the more energy I expend the more energy I have to use. But I still fight every single day it's time to go to the gym. Dumb huh?
But I digress! Hang in there buddy! I promise the scale will move again if you follow the rules. I would also say dump the carbs but I know your doc allows them so you should follow his instructions.
Sultan - you are leading the way and are a huge inspiration to all of us! As Thomas would say, big love to you!
Dan,
Hang in there, man. I was stalled for four weeks (weeks three through six), but then when my scale moved again, twenty more pounds dropped off in the next two weeks.
As for exercise - I cannot preach the sermon on that one. I struggle to drag my a$$ onto the treadmill, but I do try to get it done most days. You just have to keep looking for something that will work for you. Line dancing burns lots of calories...as long as you don't cool off with beer... just sayin'...
One other thought - I have seen lots of men say that they stopped losing at weights where they had previously spent time on the way up. I've found that to be sorta true for me... that four week stall was at a weight that I was at for about three years. I don't know of any science behind this theory, but I've seen it around quite a bit.
Also - keep in mind that once you start losing again, and you WILL, you have to remember that you're a lot smaller than you were when you started. For me - in the beginning, 4 pounds was barely more than 1% of my body weight, but now 2.7 pounds is 1%. I think the closer we get to goal, the more we have to keep an eye on this side of the numbers instead of just pure pounds coming off. I think that's the reason those last 20 pounds are always the hardest for folks to lose.
You know what to do...stay strong and stay the course. Your scale will move again - DOWN...
Keep the faith!
John
PS - now that you know where your camera is, we'll be expecting new pictures soon!

Dan now you know that I just went through a stall that lasted 3 weeks. I am now on a pattern of losing nothing for two weeks, then I will lose for about a week then not lose for two weeks. I talked to the nut when we were at the last support group meeting and she said that it was completely normal and some of the stalls could last even more than a month. You and I both lost so much in the first 3 months that she said our body would have to adjust. I agree with everyone that you do need to add some exercise even if it is just 15-20 minutes a day.
I track what I eat at www.thedailyplate.com. I started doing it more to track my protein and sodium. I think it would help you track your carbs and protein to see where you are at.
I am sure it is just a normal stall and it will pass!
