Support Group at Weight Wise

I live in the Dallas area but had my surgery at Weight Wise in Edmond, OK.  Because I have so far to travel, I am on a somewhat different checkup schedule.  I went Friday for a 4 week check.  We got into Edmond in time for me to make it to the support meeting about 7:45.  I go to two support meetings here and they are great.  One of them is really just a chat session at Starbucks, but it is registered and we get a lot of great information there.  HOWEVER, what I heard last Thursday night was nothing short of amazing.  Dr. Keller is awesome.  I so much enjoyed the updates and the various shares that I got to hear.  I also had no idea that the room would be filled!  I pulled in the parking lot and thought the support meeting must be elsewhere and something was going on at WW to have so many cars.  I was tired from the trip but got back to the hotel where I told DH how impressed I was.  At my checkup on Friday, I told Dr. Walton how much I enjoyed the meeting and I told him that they sure have set up something wonderful for WW patients.  I plan to share this information at my next support group meeting.  I know we can't get Dr. Keller here, but I hope that we can get a little more structure.  Thank you all in Edmond for making me feel so comfortable. - Carol.

Carol, I am so happy that you like us here in Oklahoma. It was nice to meet your DH. Sounds like you guys had a wonderful time when you were up. Come back as often as you can. Rita

It would be cool if there were some way to set up computer conferencing !!  I know we do it at work, maybe we can get one of our computer gurus to figure it out !!

Now that would be an absolutely wonderful idea.  My daughter and I have shared many times about Weight Wise.  I believe many people in our area would love it.  Due to the fact that we did not have our surgeries with a dr in the Dallas area, I don't think we could attend meetings with any of them.  I understand that there is a great one at Baylor Dallas and Baylor Plano.  Before I found out that I would be self-pay, I was going to a dr at Baylor Plano.  However, they still are not as WLS friendly as WW.

 What about everybody going in the chat room at the same time?  I've never been in a chat room but I think that's how thy work.  donna

I have said it before and I will say it again -- WW support group is the best support group I have ever attended, and I have attended quite a few in my line of work.

Carol, I am from out of town, also - Shreveport - so I am with you on finding a way to have video conferencing or something.  There are no support groups in this area, either.  Except, like you said, the ones that are restricted to a certain MD.  As I understand it, there are quite a few out of towners that use WW so it would be awesome if we had a way to participate from a distance.  Let's hear from the brains in this outfit about how it could be accomplished!
