SERIOUSLY???!!!  So, I decided to try to throw in the bicycle for some exercise this morning; the weather was nice, there was a cool breeze, all sounds good, right?  WRONG!!!  Now, I know my "tooshie" is smaller than it was - CONSIDERABLY smaller, but 1/2 way through my so called pleasure ride, I thought I was going to die!  OUCH!  So, after a bit of whining, my question is - Do they make a better seat???  Please, please, please say yes!  (And I'm not expecting lazy boy quality here, but I don't want to hurt!)  Thanks guys!

Hey robyn!  Yes they do make a better seat!!  I hope Shelly/Harris2 is on today and sees this because she is the link queen and can point you in the right direction.  Don't give up on biking just yet because there is a fabulous seat you can buy.  -Amy

Go to a good bike shop.  They do make better seats.  And, it is possible that your bike if not adjusted to your body correctly.  Deb Cowden can also direct you to a good seat and shop.

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I bought a bike but haven't ridden it much because of the heat and because it hurts.  It is a LOT of work!  I'm going to get back to it when it cools off.

FYI - I worked the Children's Center charity even "Spin Your Wheels" this morning.  We were the rest stop for the 100-mile riders.  Talk about buff!  These peeps are serious riders!  Their bikes were incredible and so was all of their gear.  Made me feel so inferior!  Not one of them had a basket or a bell on their bike!  LOL!

Absolutely - you can get your bike completely outfitted for a more comfortable ride.  I almost gave up on riding b/c I felt like I was impaled on a pole!  After I made all the adjustments - seat, handle bars, pedals - it became my fav thing to do.  Keep working with it till you get it right!

I prefer a women's specific seat.....but you also have to do some butt building.  Saddle time takes time to build-I'd start with 10 or 20 minute rides and see how that goes, then build up from there....cause you can get sore in places you don't want to.

I also like to wear padded shorts-it's funny, I wear mountain bike shorts (baggy) to ride on the street, and lyrca when I ride off road.  On the road I want modesty, off the road I don't want anything that is going to grab a thorn or a branch.
