Accompanied DH to his doctor visit today

The doctor thinks he possibly has pneumonia. We had a chest x-ray and got 2 antibiotics.
The good news is that his bp is down.

The bad news: He has pre-cancerous cells in his lip from dipping that evil Skoal and Copenhagen crap. I sat there in that office and cried. I told him, "Ok. I just had surgery to prolong my life so that we can enjoy our retirement years together having fun. You can NOT die at 57."

He's 48 right now getting ready to turn 49. The doc told him that he's going to give him Chantix to make him get off the Skoal. I said, "Hook us up right now." He said, "When we get the pneumonia under control, I'll get you some." He also told my DH, "If you don't quit now, I'll be cutting your jaw off in 7 years max."

Sigh...I could use a few prayers guys. I didn't post this to bring y'all down. I just really need some prayer warriors and well wishers.

I'll keep you posted. I'm off to take a nap. It's been a damn long day.

Charlotte - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband...he is way, way too young to do this to himself! And you are right, you had this surgery to save your life, and now this? Keep reminding him of that....I hope he drops that evil stuff, like now!!!

Dear Charlotte,
This is my prayer for you and your DH:  "Heavenly Father, I come before You to intercede for my friend, Charlotte, and her husband. Lord, I don't even know his name, but You know his name. You know everything about him. You know how addicted he's been to chewing tobacco, but, Lord, we've all had our issues with addiction, in one form or another. I thank You, Lord Jesus, that when You died on the cross, You paid the price for every sin and every addiction, past, present, and future. We don't have to pay a price, because You already did that. How we thank You for that. Your Word says, 'By His stripes we are healed.' And Jesus, when You walked on this earth as a man, when a person came to You to be healed, You didn't ask about whether or not he/she was perfect, You just healed each one, according to their faith in Your power to heal. I pray that Charlotte and her husband will acknowledge Your power to heal. Perhaps this precious man is even now regretting that he ever began this addictive behavior. I know what that feels like, Lord, and I'm sure Charlotte does as well. Father, You know that Charlotte has experienced loss and grief. Even now, Lord, she may be fearful that her husband will leave her, that he'll become sick, but, Father, You've said in Your Word that "when two agree on earth as touching anything, it will be done," so, Father, in the Name of Your Precious Son, Jesus, as Charlotte prays this with me, we agree in our request to spare her husband's life. Lord, I pray that You will give him the strength to lay down the chewing tobacco. I pray that he will choose life and that You will give him his life back, a life free of any addiction, a life of love for himself and his family, a long life. May his heart turn to You, and may Your peace and healing love flow down on him and on Charlotte. I pray all of this in the Name of Jesus, Who can even raise the dead, like Lazarus! Amen."
Blessings,
Mary

I KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE HARD FOR HIM TO QUIT. MY HUSBAND QUIT DIPPING ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND TO THIS DAY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE HE STILL CRAVES ONE BUT HE GOES OFF AND DOES SOMETHING TO TAKE HIS MIND OFF OF IT. YOU BE STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE BOTH OF YOU AND YOU GUYS WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS. CONSIDER PRAYER SAID.

Charlotte, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your DH. Back in my hospital days (never again!) I once worked on a floor that did those type of surgeries. It is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. I pray he has the strength to get off the nasty stuff soon. I am glad you got some good news though along with the bad.

I stand in agreement with Mary's prayer.  The heavens will be stormed for him.  Be a warrior Charlotte.  DO NOT let this steal him away from you.  We declare God's divine healing into him!  I never have dipped -- just too gross!  but did smoke for about 30 years.  It is hard.  I finally quit with 2 weeks of the nicotine patch and the nicotine gum together.  Still had severe nicotine fits 30 to 60 days out.  It is just as much a mental thing as physical.   That was back in 1999 and once in a great while, I wish I could have a cigarette.  I did carry a tin of Altoids with me at all times after I and when I started to get a nicotine fit I would pop about 3 of them in my mouth at one time.  This would kind of shock my taste buds.  With the prayers and encouragement from his family, it's do-able.  Michael

Thanks to you all. Much love and hugs back. His name is Johnny, and he's a good man. He's quit 4 times so far. Maybe this will be the last time. I'll nag him about the  Chantix like I nag him about taking his meds for the pneumonia.

Our son battled cancer at 8 years old and won. I've  lost my Dad, grandfather and aunt to cancer. Mom was a cancer survivor, but I lost her in Septmber to strokes. I've had enough of cancer so far, so you can bet I"m praying with you all, and I'm gonna nag this man into submission.

((hugs)) You guys are the best.
