infection update
Well, I went to WW today to let Dr. B. look at my left incision. He worked me in between surgeries. It is indeed infected and he had to open it back up and then pack with about 6-7 inches of sterile gause down the "track" that my DH gets to change every night. Mind you he works in the oil field and I'm not feeling very confident about his nursing skills!! On top of that he gave me horse pills to take twice a day, I tried to tell him I was still on a liquid diet and that just wasn't going to work, he told me, "Well it ain't gonna be fun but you can do it" There are things worse than a liquid diet!!!! Just glad to have such a great and caring doc. You other newbies out there take care and watch those incisions closely.

All and all I am ok. And good news is I got to weigh today and am down 12 lbs. since surgery one week ago!! I thought I was going to have to wrestle the nurse to let me weigh. She was worried if I had'nt lost I would be upset and went into a long story about swelling and water retention this close from surgery, Heck, may maybe I still have those issues and even more is really gone!! We can only hope. Don't worry about me my spirits are great, just a little bump in the road.

I'm so sorry Traci! I pray you heal up really quickly! My DH and I were so worried he would get infection as he doesn't heal well due to diabetes and the fact that he gets keloid scars. He once had a hole in his stomach for about 6 weeks that he had to clean and pack every day. Hang in there!!! We're praying for you! Diana
ONEDERLAND!!!! FINALLY!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
Damn...I hate to hear of that! I would make sure to make the hubby wear some gloves....you never know where a man's hands have been...hehe... I hope you get better and hang in there, you'll be a new girl before you know it! P.S. use LOTS of Mederma and lots of Neosporin if you want those scars to heal really nice and unnoticable!

Hang in there! Even though you're a Sooner fan and I'm a cowboy, we are "packing sisters." That same thing happened to me.
Tip: To prevent the long drawn out period that I had, make sure it's changed daily by someone who knows how far down to pack the stuff, and eat LOTS of protein. It promotes healing, according to Jess.
My insurance company wouldn't pay for the surgery, so I stuck it to them by having WeightWise staff change it for me. On the weekends, I went to the ER for it. My DH was NOT in charge of packing. ONLY in charge of taking off the band-aid and putting on a waterproof one so I could shower. Then take off that one and put a clean one on.
I had pockets and pockets deep inside that I didn't trust anybody else with. Here's hoping to a fast recovery!
