I am not sure what doctor I need to see about my ongoing nausea.  I have been nauseous intermittantly for a little over a week.  I have been getting in my liquids each day, however.  I called Weight Wise on Weds. and saw Dr. B briefly.  He did not think it was WLS related and gave me Zofran for home.  He was not concerned since it was pretty obvious I was not dehydrated.  This nausea business is getting really old, really fast.  I am not sure what doctor to see about this.  I still have pending lab from the gynecologist on the hot flashes.  According to my research a hormonal imbalance can cause nausea.  Or, do I go see my PCP?  I have to report back to school on Tuesday.  I need to be well.  HELP!!! I hate feeling icky!

hormones can really do weird things to you. I had really bad nausea for about a month (after my hysterectomy) before I went to my doctor about it. we tried several prescriptions none worked finally my aunt told me to try mint in a warm (not hot) tea. i did and it helped alot!  it needs to be fresh mint. since your post op you may ask the doctor first... but its worth a try if he oks it.

Denise, I don't have a clue what to tell you but just wanted you to know that I am sorry you are going through this.  I really hope it stops before Tuesday.  It seems to make sense that it could be tied to the hormone thing.  Can you call and get them moving quicker on your lab results? -Amy

Hopefully, the results will be in tomorrow.  I hate being nauseous more than even being in pain.  Thanks for thinking of me.

WOW I wish Ihad some words of wisdom for you Denise!  I am just like you though, bring the pain on if it is the other option of nausea!!  I don't know who to tell you to call and that makes me a schmuck!! Hopefully the labs will help resolve the questions but in the least see if they can get you some of that gel stuff!

Hang in there!  It's definitely going to be a brutal week for you trying to get back in a routine and also feeling icky!  HUGS!!!!  Keep up the liquids - at least you know it is not dehydration!  I'm not so sure about myself sometimes!  I have been way behind on my liquids the past few days and only want to sleep!

My dearest Denise...

I deal with terrible amounts of nausea every day....  I eat a small spoonful of sunflower seeds and chew them well, and somehow it actually seems to kill the nausea for about 30 minutes.  i learned about this from a WLS surgeon that I ran into on vacation.  He said that it wasn't uncommon for people like me to feel nausea for more than a year (another reason I don't eat for days...), but that as long as I'm gettin protein and fluids, I'd be fine.

Just an idea!

You might also visit your local health food store.  There is a really nice one at 74th and S. Penn in Oklahoma City.  There are several products, many include ginger, that are used for treating nausea.   Good luck.  I am back at school tomorrow also!!  I feel your pain.

I won't be back at school until the 12th, but will work on the 11th as I volunteered to help out our resident teachers so I feel your pain there, too!

I wish I could help out. Besides phenergren, I used pepermint hot tea first thing in the morning and forced down Great Value Orange Early Rise diluted. The ginger that someone posted is good for nausea too.

I wish I had some sort of words of wisdom for you. Jess told me once that if i let a diet pop go flat, I could use the 7up or Sprite remedy that I'd always turned to before.

I am so sorry that you are feeling yucky.  When you figure it out I want to know.  I also called Dr. B Friday night because I've been fighting bad nausea all week.  I thought it was because I hadn't gone to the bathroom but he wasn't even concerned with it.  He offered to call me out Zofran but after having had cancer a few years ago, I know it is very expensive.  I opted to wait and I will tell you I am calling him first thing tomorrow to get a script for something.  I cannot hardly eat anything and my energy level is nill.  I did buy some of the protein bullets that one of you lovely people suggested so I'm going to force those down.  I agree with you that I would rather have pain than nausea.  It sucks!! Just keep pressing everyone until you get an answer.  Dr. B also said that some people fight it for a year and I can tell you I hope to goodness I am not one of them.  Good luck and I'll be praying for your tummy to calm down.

I'm so sorry you're still feeling bad!  I had no idea!

What about Levsin?  Do they still make that?  Maybe some saltines?  Actually, I think this is related to your hormone issue so I don't know that any little home remedies are going to help until you get some help for your hormone issues!

I'm so sorry!  I love you!  Hang in there!
