I thought one of my incisions was infected last week. I called WW and found that Dr. Walton was on vacation. It was a little scary because I have been prone to staph before and it was NOT a good experience. When I talked to the ladies upstairs they gave me Dr. B's cell number and told me to call him. He answered! (surprising for a surgeon) and told me to come by and he would see me between patients. If you think something may be wrong, don't hesitate to call. It is definately worth driving up there and having NOTHING wrong than to wait and suffer from and infection while trying to recover. No concern is unimportant. Good luck, and if you need some help let us know, we are all here for you!

Same thing with me.  I called Dr. B and he answered and had me come in between his patients.  I had a bad rash around mine.  It was all okay though.

One of mine starting oozing at about Day 3.  Dr. Gorospe says it is okay as long as it looks clean and doesn't look or smell infected.  He looked at it again yesterday, (Day 9) and said it looked good, keep bandaging it, but he gave me antibiotics since it had gone on so long.  He said it should stop within a few days.  So be sure your Doc knows about it but it is probably ok.  Nasty, though.

Wow maybe I should switch to WW..What is WW? Where are they located? The surgeon I have is wonderful but his staff is so weird and treats me just like another fat person causing more work for them

I got an incision infection from a previous surgery (not wls) and it was pretty clear it was infected.  It was red and warm to the touch.  Keep an eye on it!  Or you can always call WW and they'll get right back with you!

Got up this morning and had burning pain in the incision.  Called Dr. B. and he said to watch it and put heating pad on it, If I'm not running a fever it should be ok.  If I am still concerned he would be glad to see me between surgeries tomorrow.  How lucky are we at WW to have the surgeon give you a direct line and actually answer @8:30 on a Sun. morning!!  After heat pad it feels better and so far no fever so we will see tomorrow.  Thanks for all your support!!

Not to be a downer, but I had an infection in my left incision and had burning (well, screaming) pain. I wasn't running fever either. Please make sure you stay on top of this, and if it doesn't clear up, don't wait a week like I did before going in to see Dr. Walton.

Pain meds didn't knock it..so that might be way to see if you're still on them. Dr. Walton assured me I was unusual. I said, "Heck, I just want more attention from you."
