Hi Leanne.  I was at the meeting Saturday.  I must say I learned a lot from it and unfortunantly am having some serious thoughts now.  The lap band is what I am planning for with Dr. Gor.  Tests are all finished and just waiting now.  Do you have to eat 1/2  cup of food at a meal for the rest of your life?  What about vitamins.  Must a person take all this from now unto eternity?

It just seems to me that a diet would be so much easier than this.  Most diets a person will loose about the same rate of time.  Am I right?  Don't see the advantage of it .  Really need a lot of information on all this.  Been to 2 siminars and one support.  Sorry, just going crazy right now.  I have already put up my $300.00 and if I back out my husband will shoot me.  Help!!

I will tell you about my own personal experience , and it a very personal choice you have to make for yourself , i think it is normal to have questions or even second thoughts.  First , nothing about this is easy , you must be totally committed to whatever surgery you choose , it is a way of life .  I eat more than a half cup of food , with that said i know when i am full and i have had to learn that through making mistakes , the whole thing is a learning experience.  I have also changed the way i eat completely , as i said at support group , i could eat whatever i want , i have had no probs with anything , BUT i choose not to because i want to lose the weight and i want to be healthy. You have to realize the Lapband is only a tool that helps you control your hunger .  I do not take anything but a multivitamin daily , i never have , Dr G. says that is all i need.  For me , it has been a lifesaver , and for the first time i have been able to lose weight and change the way i eat.  You absolutely will not be able to eat the way you do now as far as the amount and you have to realize as i said it is ONLY a tool , i also exercise my butt off in the gym daily , i dont eat sugar , i dont eat fast food , i dont eat fried food , but this is my choice.  I didnt come to this decision easily , but I will say Dr. G has helped me change but ultimately i am doing it on my own.  As far as dieting , he has told me a number of times this is not a diet , and obviously diets dont work for me , i needed some help , the band helps you with satiety(sp) or the feeling of being full.  The only other thing i can say is listen and do everything he tells you and you will be successful , but you must be committed and surround yourself with good people like these men and women here who can support you .  I hope this helps , it is only my opinion and in no way am i the expert .
