Amy - I used thedailyplate.com for a while, then I lost interest...I was not trying to reach a certain protein goal per day, but by eating protein first, as we should, I reached about 60 grams per day. So I figure that is what I am doing now - however, not everyday is the same, as some days I am hungrier than others. I have never felt that I have needed more protein than that, as I do not feel weak, tired, etc...and my energy level is pretty high. Again, I eat primarily protein, now I am able to eat a couple of tablespoons of veggies with dinner, but I always have the protein first. I rarely have fruit, because the fruits I like I am allergic to, so that was an easy fix. I also do not journal anymore! - I know, I am a great example!!!! LOL!!! I think primarily, you need to listen to your body...if you need more protein, you will know!

I have been journalling my food for a couple of weeks at a time and then taking a break. (currently on a break.)
I have been shooting for 75-90 grams of protein a day, but generally ending up closer to 60-65. I think that is working for me, but I am trying to get it up to try and hang on to as much muscle tissue as I can.
Good luck on the protein safari!

Amy, I've never even attempted to count protein. The only thing that I really keep track of is sugar and carbs. I have just never considered counting the protein as being important because of the fact they tell us not to worry about it as long as you eat your protein first. That's my take on it.

Remember, protein first, regardless of your surgery. Protein promotes healing, dont forget, so do what ya can to make sure you get as much in as possible, esp early out.
Good luck!
