Hi Guys! I have been lurking around for a week or so and I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lorna and I live just outside of Tulsa. I am still jumping through Aetna's hurdels but I hope to have my RNY in Oct/Nov. I am a patient of Dr. Gorospe. You guys seem like a great bunch of people and I am so excited to be joining you.

*****Now if someone can help me get my stinkin picture posted to my avatar I will be in business!!****

Welcome Lorna.  I have been around the men's forum for a couple of months now, and just recently have been actively reading the Oklahoma forum.  There a quite a few here that have used the same surgeon as I will be.  I am trying to lose the last few lbs of my required weight before surgery.  Hoping for early Sept.  The forums here and the people are so fantastic.  You will get so much encouragement, it's unreal; you'll get needed information; and even get a kick in the pants when you need it.  I have learned so much from the people here, and now don't miss a day reading the forums.  Good luck in your journey.  We are all pulling for you.  Michael

Welcome Lorna!!!  If you have any questions or need any advice just ask away.  Someone usually has an opinion or two or suggestions.  They have all been so much help to me.  We have a bond because we all have the same thing in common....a disease called obesity!  We're all in the fight together and are actually conquering this monster with our new tool.  We're glad to have you as part of our OH family.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Thank you guys for responding....I am actually a little freaked out about the whole process. I met a lady a couple of weeks ago that had the lap band done but she had a friend that had RNY and is probably going to die because of complications. Then after I posted my introduction I was browing around the OH site and found the memorials pae and have been sitting here at my desk with my box of kleenex completely freaking myself out. Why did I even read those!

I want this so badly...for me...my kids...I wanna have the energy to play with them and enjoy their childhood. I am just so scared that something could go wrong now. Please tell me that I am normal and not the only one that has done this and that it will pass....

Thanks!

Hi Lorna and welcome. Believe me you are not alone when it comes to being scared and doubtful at this point - I was scared for the longest time, and yes, I am also one of those who started reading the memorial page here at OH - not at good idea, had to stop doing that or I couldn't focus on the reasons why I wanted and needed this surgery. I too, wanted to be here for my daughter! This feelings will pass and as you progress towards your surgery date, get to be more confident about your surgeon, you will find that you will be looking forward to surgery. You will find lots of help, motivation and encouragement on this forum, so keep posting and keep asking - Anna

Welcome aboard! I think we all go through that fear of death thing. Talk to your surgeon and his staff about your fears. I didn't really freak out until they came and got me. Good luck in your journey.

Edit to say: If you're October, we'll be surgery sisters!

Lorna, Welcome to Oklahoma OH. The things you are feeling are perfectly normal. You just have to have faith that everything will turn out okay, and stay of that memorial page. Best of luck to you on your new journey, Rita
