Nancy, you can use the Duccolox stool softener. I buy the generic brand at Sam's. I take two in the morning and 2 in the afternoon when needed. I haven't had any trouble from taking it. Dr. Walton will tell you to keep taking the doses of Miralax until it works. To me that stuff is pricey and didn't work. Best of Luck.

I second the motion for Dr. Fleet.  At this point your stool has been in your intestines for some time-it's going to need mechanical, not chemical intervention.  Figure out what you need to do on an ongoing basis, but at this point, getting going now is pretty important.  You don't want an impaction.
