Warning -- TMI -- a couple of days ago I started feeling bloated and realized I had not had a BM since right before starting mushies (I started on the 21st). I have taken 3 doses of Miralax now and still nothing. I plan on calling WW tomorrow if no results tonight but wondered if anyone knows what they recommend if Miralax does not work. At what point are you allowed to add Benefiber? The paperwork I have says to use nothing but Miralax.

I don't want to go against what they said at your docs offices but we were told that Milk of Magnesia was okay to use.  I remember the day I went to buy it I came home and was dreading taking it and all of the sudden I had to go.  I was so happy, lol.

Seems like maybe they didn't want us using MOM but for the life of me I can't remember why.  The Miralax is supposed to be very effective but I can't really tell you since I always have the opposite problem.

Somebody smarter than me will be along in a little bit!

In the meantime, I'm sorry you're full of it!

Miralax worked great for me, but it did take about three days to work..I have issues with too much fiber causing cramps, and Miralax really did not do that. Are you taking it once a day, every day? Maybe you can call WW and see if you can increase the dosage? - hope it works for you by tomorrow - Anna

I think 3 days did the trick the first time.  Then the next time it only took one dose.  Since then I discovered eggface's cheesy cauliflower and a few bites of that cauliflower adds some fiber and does the trick.  Now, mind you I think I have only gone once a week since surgery so it is very different than before.

Don't use the benefiber.  It is a bulking agent and we aren't supposed to use it.  I don't know why but they said definately not.  I would increase the liquid and call WW as soon as you can.

That is what I thought about the Benefiber too and was surprised when I saw so many people taking it. I definitely plan on calling WW today.

As you all know I am a tad noncompliant!  I have been using Benefiber for several weeks.  With the extra iron I have to take for anemia I MUST get in some fiber.  I also take Sennokot S as recommended by my pharmacist.  At some level Dr. W knows I take the Sennokot (it is on my meds list we have discussed twice) and didn't say anything.

Don't follow my bad example, that is just what I do each day.

Let me introduce you to my little friend: Dr. Fleet.

While he's not fun, he gets the job done. Miralax doesn't work for me or for my son and that's what they used at his oncologist's office. For it to work, I have to triple the dose and concentrate it in water or whatever I'm drinking.

With my little friend, the longest you have to wait for him to work is an hour. He comes in liquid and suppository form. I have done this 3 times in 9 months. Calcium used to lock me down, but since I take the powdered now, no problems.
