I had lap-band surgery on 4/20/06 by Dr. Fisher at Surgical Associates. I have not had a saline injection in over a year because 1.) I have not needed it and 2) I did not have insurance..I just now got my insurance back and made an appointment but they can't fit me in until a week from Thursday. For the past few days I've had major pain and sensitivity in my porthole area! It hurt so bad I went to the minor ER yesterday but all they did was give me a shot and told me to talk to my doctor. I left a message for Dr.Fisher's nurse to see if she would call me in a prescription or something to last until the 7th but shes out of the office today! I am in so much pain and worried..I'm almost panicking, I don't know what else to do

Is this normal? Could it have slipped?

My doctor is out of the office all week and his nurse was out yesterday..I left her 2 messages..I don't know what else to do :( I feel very nauseated

I would think they would have an on call doctor for when he is out of town.  Sounds like you need to talk to someone soon!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I think so, too. I wish I could help! Maybe some of our bandsters can help.

I would encourage you to get in right away to someone who knows what is going on. You should not be having that kind of pain. Keep calling until you can get hold of someone. Hope it gets better.

Okay everybody..I went back to the minor emergency room and was in there for maybe 30 minutes total! They gave me some very strong painkillers to last until my appointment on the 7th.

They did not have any bariatric surgeons on call. I finally got his nurse (who was out of the office yesterday) to call me back. She was nicer then the rude nurse-on-call I talked to yesterday but said that since I had not had a saline injection in a little over a year she would not call anytihng in. She offered to let me see one of the regular surgeons but they arent bariatric surgeons and couldn't really help me..So I just got up, brushed my teeth, and went straight to the minor ER and recieved very good care.

Thinking of switching doctors for good. Dr.Fisher is a wonderful surgeon but his staff is just so..I dunno..I feel very drained from this entire experiance. I was so frustrated and upset and in pain when I posted that earlier, I'm sorry if I alarmed anybody :(

Feeling much better. He also took some blood to make sure nothing was perforated. He said it may be a minor slip due to not having it filled in so long. I didn't have isnurance for a long time and I was doing so well I just didnt need a shot yet!

Thanks to everyone for your help! I'm sorry if i scared any pre-op Lapbanders! It will be fine!
