Just wondering if anyone has done the RMR &VO2? Do you feel that you gained any benefit by doing it?

Thank you,

I am anxiously awaiting my VO2 testing next month.  I didn't get it done before surgery and they make you wait 3 months post-op.  To burn fat you don't work out as hard as you do for cardio benefit (although I think anything that elevates your heart rate is beneficial.)  I sure want to make sure I am burnign as much fat as possible when I work out!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Uh, I didn't get any instructions like that!  I guess I better clarify.  I am scheduled for 5 PM- no way I can work all day and not eat.  Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't have the RMR but I did have the VO2 before surgery.  I was never told not to eat but I was told not to drink caffeine the day of because it can speed up your heart, I think.  Anyway, I thought it was helpful because I learned my target heart range for 100% fat burning.  (110-122)  People tend to work too hard and end of burning some muscle.  I wanted to burn lard only!  LOL!  They also programmed the heart rate monitor I bought there.  It beeps at me if  walk too slow or walk too fast so that's very helpful!

OK at the risk of sounding stupid, what is a RMR and VO2?

I'm going to guess-RMR is Resting Metabolic Rate.  VO2 sounds like a vodka drink, but I bet it has something to do with  oxygen or fat composition.

I have instructions that Somer sent me but I don't know how to attach them to this post. If you want me to send them to you, (any one of you), PM me and give me your email address and I will send them to you.

Do you actually have to pay more for the heart rate monitor?

I had that done at WW the day before my surgery.  They told me I could only have 8 oz of water the day before.  It was tough, because I had surgery the next day and couldn't eat or drink.  I'm glad that I had it although I've not felt good enough to use it just yet.  I got the stuff at the WW store and had it set so I'm all ready when I feel like it, hopefully very soon.  I just went back to work today and had to leave at 2:30.

RMR and VO2 are done at WeightWise with the exercise people. You can choose to have those done so that you know your target range to burn only fat not muscle. It's optional. I didn't choose to do mine, though it does make sense.
