We are warming up the bench for you now.  I had surgery 12 days agao and I just wanted to get it over with already.  You will do fine.  Amy (I think that's her name) made me feel so comfortable that I didn't even mind the IV poke (took her 1 try and most people take 3 times).  Rita (Cricket_) stopped by for a chat and I didn't even have a chance to get nervous.  Next thing I knew I was in the room and eager to start walking.  I had a fanstastic experience in the hospital, best I've ever had and believe me I have had a bunch of hospital stays and surgeries!!  You will do great.  Good luck and God Bless.

As others have said you are completely normal, and I know that you're on the bench already. We'll be here to hold your hand when you need it, kick you in the boo-tay when you need it, and just in general be friends.

I was calm and relaxed until they wheeled me into the OR: then I freaked out and started crying...mask was on and I was awake  what seemed minutes later.

I would not change a thing except I would have had this done sooner. I have tried and failed too many times  to count. I was afraid I'd be a failure at this too. I think we all go through similar emotions but to varying degrees. Congrats and welcome to the ride, sweetie.

Hey no worries. I was in your same position last week. When you get there tomorrow take a look at the pre-op nurse. She is a sleeve patient too! She looks so awesome. Seeing that made things so much better because it puts everything in perspective. Tomorrow morning will be somewhat whirlwind and easy. People will come talk to you and then before you know it you will be waking up (without pain) and they will wheel you to your room. They are very good about helping you with anything you need and the nursing staff will make sure you are comfortable. Just remember that they want you to drink 64oz before you leave on Thursday. Don't be afraid to ask for pain medicine and gas drops, they want you to be comfortable. And don't forget, you have friends here who will be more than happy to help if needed!
