Something is wrong with me
Friday I cooked 5 (that is FIVE) fabulous meals of which I could not eat. I was on my feet all day in the kitchen and loved it. My family is freaked out completely. They have had food all weekend and no need to eat out. Randy said, "Wow I have a skinny wife that wants to cook all the time".
I wonder if I am the only one seeing some really strange changes in my life. Why now when I can't eat do I suddenly love to cook and prepare food? Am I living through others than do eat it?

Nothing is wrong with you girl! The silly thing is, if we had been thin all our lives and done the same thing - we would not have thought twice about it! You are doing exactly what you should be doing! Feeling exactly what you should be feeling! Handling things exactly how you should be handling things!
Unfortunately, there is no road map to WLS. I tend to think if you can get through the day following your eating plan and you didn't kill anyone, it is a GREAT day! Thankfully something does click over in our brains after WLS so take advantage of that! There are so many more things we can do after WLS - cooking, cleaning, outdoors, play with the kids, etc that it doesn't pay to dwell on the why's and how comes. Just enjoy this time getting to know the new you!
Randy is a doll with that comment by the way.....hmmm does he have a single brother?? ROFLMAO Hmmm... I think I asked that question before!!

Enjoy your new, more fabulous self! And congrats on not being tempted by evil foods that are bad for our bodies. It is such a blessing to get full on such a small amount of food, huh? Full is full and once that happens, nothing really tempts me!
Yay tiny tummy!
Amy;
There is nothing wrong with you. This is a good thing!! I don't cook - my husband does -so I can't relate in the sense of cooking food and not wanting it, but I can tell you that food around me, at stores, in restaurants does not phase me either. I think, at least in my case, that we reach a point of disattachment from food, what used to be a focus in our life, is now what it should be, fuel for survival. The smell of food does not tempt me anymore, but rather, it bothers me at times - I notice this at work a lot when people bring food. If I go grocery shopping and I have just eaten, I can't even think of buying food, and I remember in previous years when I was on a diet such as Weigh****chers, they would say not to go to the grocery store hungry or you would buy food you shouldn't buy..etc.., well, that never worked with me, hungry or not, the temptation to buy was there. But, now I know what they were talking about!!! Last night my husband and I went to a concert and we ate before we went, but on the way back I caught myself thinking that a year ago, we would have stopped somewhere at 10:00 o' clock at night and would have eaten again. As time goes by, you'll see that what you have noticed about yourself in the last few days, you won't notice anymore, it becomes part of life. In essence your anatomy has changed a bit, and the way I look at it, it's mind over stomach and the stomach will win, even if it takes a little while sometimes.
Anyways, I think you are doing great and this is a great start! Maybe I should try cooking! I only know how to cook pasta/Italian foods, and since that's off the menu....HaHa...there is my excuse for not cooking! ---- Anna

I've started cooking a bit-got the cuts on my hand to prove it. (Knifework needs more practice).
I think it's really great that you don't want the junk food-but be careful that you don't become a "feeder".....someone who enourages others to eat-you don't want to put that on your kids.
My Mom, is a feeder with a twist. She wants to control what you eat-but make sure it's healthy for the most part. Every now and then she wants to dole out some home made goodie., but with her, it IS a control issue....she will decide who eat what.
To deal with a feeder, I think the best thing to do is just ignore them-eat what you want and don't get into the whole control thing. They'll get a little frustrated, but stop....if you delve into the whole "why are you doing this arena" someone is gonna start crying.
Amy, I am with you. Food just doesn't have the hold over me that it did. I am still not cooking much since it is not rewarding to cook for one. But, I have bought chips and other junk food several times since surgery to feed others and I wasn't tempted. I will have to start cooking soon so I have food to take to school for lunch. We'll see how that goes.
Enjoy the lack of interest in food. This is part of the honeymoon period when we can lose the most weight the fastest.

ONEDERLAND!!!! FINALLY!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
My DSIL gained weight when I lived in Enid, because he loved coming over to our house to eat. Baking is therapy for me. I haven't baked much since WLS at all, but I did do Christmas candy (home made) this year and the family enjoyed it.
I did the same thing to myself during the liquid phase. I ordered pizza for DH and DS as was our usual on Friday night. They felt guilty, but I told them to quit it. I wasn't tempted and was proud of myself.
Anyway, all of this is to say you're not weird, and you have a faboo husband!
