Tulsa Support Groups

Hey guys...
I was just curious if there are any other support groups out there BESIDES the Gorospe Gratefuls?  Isn't that the name? 
Anyway, I went to one of the Gorospe meetings and I was totally underwhelmed with the flow/service, whatever you wanna call it!!  I felt the same way at the Gorospe seminar which is why I opted for WW.  No offense to those of you that went to Dr Gorospe, I have no doubt he's a great surgeon, just not a right fit for me.  Does anyone know of any other support grps around Tulsa area?  I live in the QUAH and it's a looooong drive to Edmond for a support grp.  They weren't able to get my appts to coincide with a support grp day so far.... anyway thanks for the info!!

Oh and all I got at the meeting was an "autographed" brochure saying I was there.  Do you think that will work to meet my 1 support grp pre-op requirement? 

They announced at the last meeting for Gorospe that you need to bring a form from  your doctor to the meeting and they will fillout/sign. I think Kantis has support group meetings.  You should also come to our meet, greet, and eat that we have in Tulsa once a month.  It is an informal get together of tulsa area people on OH.  It is alot of fun and you really learn alot.

Call you patient advocate to see if a signed brochure will suffice for your one support group meeting.

I am sorry you did not like the support gorup meeting and to be honest, I really don't like them either.  It's too big and not personal, plain and simple.  We need to have smaller groups so that people can actually TALK about their stuff instead of a board of directors running a meeting (which always runs too long and is ALWAYS disorganized).

One thing that I liked about My doc, was he had the ed seminar during the consult.  It sucked that 1 dr appt lasted from 8-5, but it was a group of about 8 people.  We met in a conference room for 8-12.  Then broke into individual sessions with NUT, Anethesoliogist (the people that put you to sleep)  and 1 more person, so everything was over and done with in 1 day.  That was nice

Surgical Associates of Tulsa has support group meetings the 2nd Tuesday of the month. I personally have not attended one yet (but will have to soon). I have heard from other people that they are good.
