Why is it?

Sounds like you had a phenomenon that some RNYers call the foamies...lots of saliva, that thick, foamy feeling...eventually, if you can get a burp up, it brings visitors with it of sorts...ick..I have had these when I eat something waaaay too dense and heavy.  It is like the body produces extra spit just to try to get the offending clog out of my pouch.

Sorry you had the PB thing, esp on something that was a rare treat.  I noticed the same correlation here, as a really nice steak does the same thing to me.  Hubby has a warped interpretation of why that happens...it was so good and expensive that you should try it twice.  Yeah, he is a sick, twisted lil boy, I tell ya!

Yeah, that's it. It's amazing how one small little bit can cause that much bubble and spit.

For those that haven't had it yet, you can avoid it entirely by eating what you should, in small bites, and chewing.  Usually it takes an episode every now and then for me to get a reminder that I need to chew a little better (or not eat noodles).

The other thing that seems to help is walking around a bit.  What does NOT help is drinking water or panicking.  Something stuck well and good can be a bit painful, and feels a little claustrophobic, but relax, as long as you can still breathe you aren't going to starve to death before it comes up.  If I'm out in public, I usually excuse myself to the bathroom, because having people sit there and WATCH me while I try to get something to move down pretty much guarantees it's going to come back UP, however, if I walk to the restroom, sometimes it moves on down, I wash my hands and come back, no problemo.

Sometimes on the bandster board you'll get a description that involves the alien bursting from the guys' chest in the movie, but I think that's more drama than anything.  If it happens frequently, it's a sign you need to go to talk to your dr. and figure out what the problem is.  Bandsters are really bad to hide it rather than deal with it and resolve it which is a shame, because it's a simple mechanical problem-either your bites are too big (chew your food) or your band is a little too tight (let some fluid out).

Walking definetely helps!  Try to elongate your body and twist it at the abdomen to push things thru as well.  I have been known to stand in a erstaurant, hands outstretched above my head, twisting at the waist, swinging the girls back and forth.  Yeah, I look retarded, but hey, at least it makes me feel better!

Also, I second the notion that drinking something to push the clog does NOT help.  If anything, it makes it much, much worse.

DH knows by the tone of my voice when I say, "I'll be right back" if I'm going to throw u*****t when we're out in public together. The last episdoe in public was at County Line..everybody else had BBQ and I had salad. The dressing had waaaaaaaay too much oil in it, and I was "right back" 20 mins. later. At least I've only done that twice in public, and it wasn't noisy so it didn't bother the others in the ladies room.

The last episode was my very last ever hamburger patty made on our grill at home. I was in the bathroom for 3 HOURS nonstop. When it was finally over, I had a really bad headache. It was the fat, even though it was a lean patty, I can do ground beef at 97 percent lean, but not hamburger patties.

Go Turkey patties! You taste so much better than Veggie patties...at least you sort of taste like cow! Even though you can't moo..

That's odd since hamburger patties do that to me too!  I've finally gotten to where I don't do it as much but the last public time was actually at a support group meeting several weeks ago.  I was sitting all the way at the front near where you sit by the way and I thought I would never get out of there without blowing up!!!  Fun times but learning times at that....  At least there wasn't much it that little pouch to get rid of but it took 3 trips!!!

Oh this is all soooo familiar.  Me being a previous bandster converted to an RNY I do feel that the band PBing is alot worse than the RNY pbing....It may be because at this point I am still being very careful and eating a very small variety of foods.  Where with the band I wasnt scared at all and I would pile that food in there only to find myself salivating and running to the bathroom.  (huh, maybe that's why it didn't work so well with me, who woulda known? lol).  But with the RNY I can definately tell at an earlier point that I am full.  With the band I felt like I had just swallowed a watermelon....and that first time I did it I made the mistake of drinking water to try to get it to go down....now that was violent.  I really do need to learn to eat slower....it's hard to train your brain to do that when your a marathon eater like I am....

I know exactly what you're talking about.  The first time I did this I had gone to a support meeting and knew I had a problem right before going into the meeting (sat in the front) and tried to get it to go on down by drinking .....BIG DISASTER...foamed and everything.  It's all such a learning thing.   Chew, chew, chew, chew, chew and chew some more....tiny, tiny bites and eat slowly!!!!!  I say that again and again!!!
