Why is it?

You always PB on the expensive stuff?  I love Amy's frozen foods, but they are a bit pricey-so they are a rare treat.  I got hung up on the tofu lasagna today.  Noodles are one of those sometimes ok, sometimes not things.  I decided to try it and shouldn't have.  DANG IT.

Well, Dan put it more eloquently....but it's log jam in the pouch-and the offender comes UP.  PB stands for productive burp because, well, there is some slime and the entire undigested piece of whatever was stuck.  No stomach acids.

It is a different experience than a good old fashioned puke, so I suppose it does need it's own term.

I've had non WLS argue that it is no different, but unless you've ever expereienced it, your arguements don't carry much weight with me.

The thing about it is-when you do it you have to go back on liquids, then mushies etc....because it does irrirate the stoma and esophogus a bit.  A lot of bandsters get into trouble because they forget that rule-and that can cause a viscious cycle of PBing.

Dan, does RNY have a similar rule?

Unlike a regular old puke, a PB doesn't involve nausea or even always pain-so the liquids rule is a little easy to forget.

And, since we are already talking about it-it IS possible to do an old fashioned stomach ache puke with the band, but the liquids rule still applies (only is much easier to follow).

Sounds like PB is similar to dumping...  I think?  Sorry you got sick on tofu... I love tofu when it's made right.

No-it's a puke thing-I explained it when you wrote this....LOL.  Tofu is fine, noodles, not so much.

I've even learned to cook tofu properly *****gasp******  Brown some in super hot walnut oil and any seasoning or veges is strickly optional-that is some goooooood stuff.

Thanks for the explanation!  Sorry that the noodles got you!  I alswys forget that you are a bandster.  Sleevers do not have to go back to liquids and advance their diet again.  Well, I guess we should if the vomiting gets too bad.

I guess I am lucky.  I am not allowed noodles so I wouldn't even try.  I am goign to have to get creative to replace that Italian food experience.  I may experiment soon.  I will post if anything comes out worth talking about!

If I am out, I just eat around the noodles with lasagna.  I order a lot of things like sanwiches, etc, because the meat portion is usually more than enough if I don't want leftovers.

Some bandsters can eat bread, noodles, the whole shebang.  Anything the least bit doughy is not worth the anxiety it causes me-so I just don't eat it.  Learning to eat bread would probably be counterproductive anyway.

I've gotten some odd looks at buffets cause my plate when I'm finished is fuller than when I start (because of all the bread piles), however, to be fair, total food removed from the buffet line is still far less than the average customer, so I pile up that bread with zero guilt, especially since my parent's favorite place makes me pay full price.

Haha yeah we were posting at the same time~ It does sound similar to something I've made myself do a few times after eating something that doesn't agree at ALL.  Glad to hear it wasn't the tofu.  The way you make it sounds really good~ I'm going to give that one a try myself.

I think RNY'ers have a variety of those body functions, too..at least I do!

Hey, Happycat, I"ve heard of using zucchini as the noodles for lasagna. Slice the zucchini lengthwise. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 350 till crisp. Remove from oven. Use as noodles in lasagna. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to soon.
