Does any one no what I can take for a upset stomach and diarrhea or do I need to call the Doctor?  I can imagine having this much diarrhea when I hardly eat anything.

Heather, at weight wise we tell our patients they can take imodium as directed. However, I would reccomend that you call you Dr. just to let him/her know and see what they suggest.

Heather, call the surgeon on call to be safe. I did have crazy diarrhea for the first 2 weeks post op .... the antibiotics we're given right before and after surgery cause diarrhea, plus being on liquids only ... I was in the bathroom a LOT. Plus, since you've been on additional antibiotics, I bet that is also causing diarrhea. Call the office, and in the meantime maybe try a some yogurt to replenish some normal gastrointestinal bacteria ... but, dairy products are difficult for an  irritated bowel to deal with. Call Dr. Nelson to be safe.

Also, really PUSH yourself to get your fluids in! Diarrhea is going to increase your likelihood of becoming  dehydrated. Keep drinking!

Thank you  Rita and Shelly for your help.  I just got a call back from Dr. Keith and he said to take Imodium.  I am leaving for Kansas tomorrow so I need to get this under control.  Thanks again.

The Imodium should help. Are you going on vacation tomorrow? Have a fun and safe trip ... and keep those fluids going down. ; )

I'm glad your Mom is going to help out. I sure hope you have a computer there so you can keep in touch with us. Concentrate on your fluids and protein .... pureed, mashed or a supplement. Be sure to keep drinking your fluids. Enjoy those mashed, healthy veggies and fruits, too. Have a wonderful trip! : )

P.S. Are you getting in your fluids better now? How is the eating going? I've got you in my prayers.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I started on probiotics as soon as I got back from Mexico.  I am a bit of health nut about some things, and antibiotics always give me the shuffles.  I just opened the capsule and put it in my protein drink.

Remember to keep your fluids up when more is coming out than normal.
