i finally got to meet thomas today at pre op diet class and he is as funny and nice in person as he is here. i wish him a safe trip. on another note: am i the only one that thinks the pre op diet class is a mirror image of the post op diet class? i don't want to make anyone mad but i don't feel like we need the class 2-3 times to tell us the same things. is there a reason for it to be like that?

I completely agree that the pre-op and post-op diet class are pretty much identical.  Plus they give you all the paperwork and all you have to do is read it.  Maybe the post-op diet is so important they need to drill it in to some people's heads over and over?  Maybe it's the $10?  Heck, I don't know!  But there will be another one at 3 months out!

I think some people are visual learners, some learn by reading, some by hearing....so they give it to you (for price) lots of different ways.  And, at different stages in the process you are going to pick up on different things.

As much as they drill it into our tiny brains we still manage to forget or get information we receive elsewhere mixed up with what they have said....I think that's part of the reason to remind you what their rules are.

I have sit through the class numerous times and I pick up something that I missed every time. It's good re-enforcement.

I personally hope they stick with the group format.  I learned more from others questions than anything else.  Others think of questions I don't= at least while I am there!  I will happily pay $10 for a group thing.

i agree with the group format and i don't even mind the $10 but i have to drive over 2 hours every time and if i don't have a dr's appointment the same day it seems a little much to go over the same things every time. i just had to get that off my chest!

Make sure to ask them to schedule your appointments as tightly as they can.  If you have one, ask them to lump them on the same afternoon.  They'll do their best to accomodate since the do this for a lot of patients because of the distance a lot travel.

I totally agree with you policekat.  Besides your drive...taking time off from work for duplication is also a problem.  I think they need to make sure they throw new things out but I do think the group class is much better than the one on one.  I learn about as much from our on line questions to and from each other.  I'm sure for you it's also a tank full of gas involved!!!  Have a good one.
