I am so sorry that you had say good bye to your dear friend. I am one that get very emotional over making that decision. I had two wonderful friends for 17 years that I still miss even now 6 years later. I love thinking about them at the "rainbow bridge" waiting for the day I can be with them again. I have a sweet girl named Lola that is just a stinker. (very gassy) I really admire people who take special care pet into their home. All living creatures deserve to be loved and cared for.

The only time I've ever had any regrets was waiting too long to put one down.  Dogs are pretty clear about when they are ready to go, although bless them, they are patient if you just can't let go-they will hang on as long as they can.

Cats too-and even critters with scales, two legs, feathers or no legs....they are all great teachers and companions.  Honestly, I once had a reticulated python who had more common sense than most people.

Now, I didn't know snakes had common sense.  See the things you learn on OH!  I really thought that snakes just ate and nothing else.  Guess you can tell I never had a snake pet.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Well, it's not common knowledge....LOL.

Every now and then you come across an animal that has sense enough to let you help it when it is trapped.  Bette (the snake) was perfectly helpful and polite while I worked to get her unstuck from a log with a pry bar and some Pam Olive oil spray (alcohol free of course).  Retics aren't known for their placid tempers but Bette was always most genteel.  I didn't find out till she died that she was in fact, a Bob.

I once helped a Great Horned Owl who was caught in a trap up near Edmond.  That bird could have shredded me to bits, but he was very calm and let me help him out.

Unfortunately, people are not always so gracious when you try to help them-nor are many animals.

I'm so sorry you will be missing Bitty, but I'm so thankful she got to spend her later months and years with you. I'm sure you blessed each others lives greatly. I hope your other critters deal well with her loss, too.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

LOL-Bitty is probably glad to be somewhere a little more peaceful.

Hi, Debra, I wish you peace and am sorry for the loss of Bitty. All of my cats have been strays and have blessed me with their wisdom. Ed the Cat and I do cat yoga - downward cat, upward cat, and the corpse pose are our favorites. We will say a prayer for you and your family (both human and animal). donna

My cat in residence was one I picked up because they were going to dump her (all the other kitties had stubby tails, but Pasht has a long tail) and I really didn't mean to keep her-but that was 12 years ago and she's still here.  Pasht assists with corpse pose by standing on my chest to make sure my shoulders are into the mat.

I'm afraid to do yoga with the dogs in the room-I'm not that steady and they aren't that fast.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. But i can tell you know you did what is right. alot of people let it go on to long because they dont want to let go.

I would love to be able to take every dog that needed a home. I love dogs. but where i live wont let me have any.. my son had a daschound that he got from my sister for his 11 th bday and we had to give her to someone else when we moved in here. i think I miss her more than dennis does. but she took to me right off and thought she was my dog.. she is moody like me too..lol

Deb, I am so sorry for your loss. It's always hard to lose a pet. I think it's wonderful you had a rescue dog. All my cats are rescues. You will have a special place in Heaven for all the wonderful care you give your menagerie.
