DH is looking to sell his bike and upgrade to a heavier one. He currently has a Honda CBT400 Hawk, and it's too light weight for the interstate. He has to take back roads to work. He wants something heavier and bigger, and we spent from 2-7 last night in bike shops. First of all, we don't want to spend $$$$$..it's hard to find good used cycles. We are considering a Honda Goldwing we saw. He's also looked at Kawasaki Vulcans and Suzukis. Goldwing is what I want, but we don't plan to ride cross country much. Mostly, we'd ride it to Enid or Tulsa or somewhere around the state. What do you all suggest we look at? It doesn't have to be a touring bike..we just want something big, heavy and fast. Also, does anybody know where a good used cycle shop is located? We went to MIdwest City, Bethany and various places in the city last night. They all begin to run together. Caveat: I want a Harley. 'nuff said. DH says no for him right now. Forgot to add: gotta run errands now and probably won't be back on until Sunday..Thanks a lot!

I looked at V-Stars, Shadows and Vulcans before I got the Shadow.  Honda is running a cashback deal and if you can fine an 07, they will apply it to a new 07.

Right now, with gas high, stock is pretty low in the new shops, which usually also carry used ones.  I bought my at Moddrell's in Chickashaw.  JDR (I hope she doesn't mind) knows a lot about motorcycles-I hope she posts because she has more local info than I do.

Craigslist has a search feature, so you can search by type you want.  Makes it a bit easier.  There's usually some pretty clean used bikes on there.

My DH rides an '84 Honda Magna, totally decked out to the point his buddies call it the mighty "magnawing"..oy...anyway, he is on a few yahoo chat groups with his friends all over the country.  These men buy up bikes, restore them to pristine condition, and sell them reallllly cheap, as it is more about the love of the bike (so they say...I think they are just wanting something to do in order to avoid actually having to interact with their wives, lol), rather than the $$$.  Hubby is also looking for his "next bike" whenever he can. My point is this (you knew I had to have a point eventually, right?) if you would like, I can get him to cough up his forum links and talk to some of his buddies to see what is available in your area.

I've seen a couple of those that look like cars without roofs-they are sooooooo cool.  A lady in my water aerobics class (the rehab one) just sold their cruiser and bought a trike.....I'm trying really hard not to think about those.....they are so neat.

I want a bike for myself SO bad, but hubby teases me that you can't ride with stilettos and a short skirt, lol.   Oh well, I guess I will pass for now, especially considering I can't get my beard to grow correctly to give me that "biker" look, giggle.. (NO, I do NOT have a beard...just a goatee, snicker) Pssst...get a trike...ya know ya wanna....hee hee hee

OOOOOOOOH Newsflash for you and hubby-they make "biking skirts" now......ok, they are for mountainbikes, but black lycra is black lycra.

Dang, am I the only one who knows this?  Have I just tapped in to an unthought of market?  With the right boots, they'd look good even without stilleto heels.  (I firmly believe there is a boot out there for every outfit)

Black lycra??Riding skirts?????? Links, please! LOL

Yeah, Janice, see if he minds coughing up those links.

The new bike shops didn't have many used ones at all.

He's looking at selling his to a friend. If the friend doesn't take it, we'll either trade it in or list it for sale somewhere on line.

Thanks for the Craig's list idea, too. It usually doesn't have what we want/need (translation : 81 Camaro parts), but I"ll try it..we're rookies at that site.
