It fits in our guidelines so it should hopefully be fine. Just go slowly since it's your first time trying it out. Our limit is nothing more than 10 gms of sugar alcohols. Just go slowly to make sure you don't have a dumping reaction, but my guess is that it will probably be OK. Since everyone is different, you'll just need to try it out.

Maybe some of our RNY pals can tell you how it's worked for them.

You won't know if you can handle sugar alcohols until you try.  I did not do well with them at first but now I seem OK with them in moderation.

Thank you.  Thats why I am not eating anything because I am so scared to dump.  I had to go back to the doctor on Monday because of an infection and they told me i needed to start eating.  But it is so hard.  I can not even get down a protein shake.  So I guess I need prayers.  Thanks again.

How's your incision site doing? Have you finished your antibiotics?

Please try to eat. Are you nauseated? Fearful? Having trouble swallowing? What is causing your inability to eat? Do the protein shakes just taste bad? How about if I mail you some to try and see if they might work? Just PM me your mailing address. I'll get them in the mail tomorrow since I'm already going to be at the post office.

Have you contacted one of the dieticians for help or advice?

I am definitely keeping you in my prayers my friend!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Thank you so much Shelly but I think I have tried every thing that OWLO has to offer.  I also went to WW and bough there protein shakes and for some reason I just can't choke them down.  I just hope that it gets better.  Because like today my daughter wanted to go to the mall and by the time we were about done I felt like i could pass out.  So just keep me in your prayers.  Thanks again for the offer.

Heather, if you don't feel up to cooking, what if I bring you some fat free refried bean casserole and some baked chicken breasts that you can puree in the blender  with a little added water? I could bring out some veggies that you can mash up, too. I am free all day tomorrow and I'll certainly be happy to make a road trip bearing food! I'd love to visit anyway! : )

Also, please call one of the dieticians for help. They are only there until noon tomorrow, so call early.

I know dumping is miserable ... like maybe a 30 minute stomach virus ... but it's not as bad as many things .... like that virus that went around last winter that lasted over a week. Please eat good nutritious food ... put it in the blender or ma**** up, put your fear behind you, and enjoy.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Heather, please don't be too afraid to eat. If you steer clear of sugary and high fat foods, you should be mostly safe from dumping. And, even though dumping can be completely miserable, it does pass. Don't let fear keep you from getting necessary nourishment. You didn't have your surgery to get unhealthy ... it's to do just the opposite ... it's to help us be healthier!

Heather, you might try making Jello with a protein bullet.  I know there is controversy about the quality of protein but anything is better than nothing right now.  Just mix the bullet in to make up the rest of your cold water.  Wait until the boiling water has cooled off a bit.  It is an easy way to get some protein and calories.

Prayers for sure.

Sugar Free Pudding really isn't nutrition, ya know?  Maybe you could try some riccotta or cottage cheese, about the same texture, but a little more foody, yet not sweet.
